Florida Gators Women's Golf
The Florida Gators women's golf team represents the University of Florida in the sport of golf. The Lady Gators compete in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Southeastern Conference (SEC). They play their home matches on the Mark Bostick Golf Course on the university's Gainesville, Florida campus, and will be led by third-year coach Emily Glaser in 2014–15. In the forty-five-year history of the Gators women's golf program, the Lady Gators have won nine SEC championships and two NCAA national tournament championships. Team history The Florida Gators women's golf program originated as an intercollegiate club team under coach Mimi Ryan in 1969. NCAA Women's Golf Championship
The NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship, played in the month of May, is the annual competition in women's collegiate golf for individuals and teams from universities in Division I. Golf was one of twelve women's sports added to the NCAA championship program for the 1981-82 school year. From its inception through 2014, it was a stroke play team competition with an additional individual award. Beginning in 2015, after 72 holes of stroke play, the top eight teams play in single-elimination match play to determine the team champion. Many individual winners have gone on to have successful careers on the LPGA Tour, including 1991 champion Annika Sörenstam and 1999 champion Grace Park. The Division I competition started in 1982. LPGA Tour
The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) is an American organization for female golfers. The organization is headquartered at the LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Florida, and is best known for running the LPGA Tour, a series of weekly golf tournaments for elite female professional golfers from around the world. Organization and history Other "LPGAs" exist in other countries, each with a geographical designation in its name, but the U.S. organization is the first, largest, and best known. The LPGA is also an organization for female club and teaching professionals. Donna Horton White (born April 7, 1954), née Donna Horton, is an American former professional golfer who played on the LPGA Tour for 15 years from 1977 to 1992. Amateur career White was born in Kinston, North Carolina. She had a successful amateur golf career, and was a semi-finalist in the 1971 U.S. Girls' Junior. Jeanne-Marie Busuttil
Jeanne-Marie Busuttil (born 29 June 1976) is a former professional golfer from France who was a member of the LPGA Tour in the early 2000s. Amateur career Busuttil was born in Paris, France and moved to America where she attended the University of Florida and Arizona State University, playing on teams for both schools. Busuttil won the French Junior Championship in 1991 and became a member of the French National team from 1993 to 1997. While at Arizona State University, she won two collegiate tournaments: the 1996 NCAA East Regional and the 1995 South Carolina Invitational. Laura Alicia Brown (born 1970) is a former American college and professional golfer. Brown was born in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. She attended New Smyrna Beach High School and graduated in 1987. Brown received an athletic scholarship to attend the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, where she played for coach Mimi Ryan's Florida Gators women's golf team in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) competition from 1988 to 1991. is a Japanese professional golfer and former member of the LPGA Tour. Amateur career Higashio was born in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. Laurie Anne Rinker (born September 28, 1962) is an American professional golfer who played on the LPGA Tour in the 1980s, 1990s and early 2000s. Lori Garbacz (born August 11, 1958) is an American professional golfer who played on the LPGA Tour for sixteen years.
