Educational accreditation is a quality assurance process under which services and operations of educational institutions or programs are evaluated and verified by an external body to determine whether applicable and recognized standards are met. If standards are met, accredited status is granted by the appropriate agency. In most countries, the function of educational accreditation is conducted by a government organization, such as the Ministry of Education. The United States government instead delegates the quality assurance process to private non-profit organizations. Those organizations are formally called accreditors. In order to receive federal funding and any other type of federal recognition, all accreditors in the US must, in turn, be recognized by the National Advisory Committee on Institutional Quality and Integrity (NACIQI), which is an advisory body to the U.S. Secretary of Education. Dade Christian School is a private Christian school that enrolls kindergarten through 12th grade students in Miami, Florida. DCS was founded as a segregation academy in response to the court-ordered desegregation of Miami-Dade public schools. It is one of two private schools run by New Testament Baptist Church, a Southern Baptist church that also runs The Master's Academy. DCS had a 2018-2019 enrollment of 152. History Founding New Testament Baptist Church was founded in 1954, and Dade Christian School in 1961 by Pastor Al Janney. Established in 1970, it is run by an independent board of governors. History The King's Academy was founded by a group of Christian business leaders in August 1970 and opened on the campus of Belvedere Baptist Church in West Palm Beach, Florida. North Florida Christian School (NFCS) is a private Christian school in Tallahassee, Florida, originally founded as a segregation academy. The school is administered by North Florida Baptist Church, formerly known as Temple Baptist Church. History Originally known as ''Tallahassee Christian School'', it was founded in 1966 by Temple Baptist Church pastor Rayburn L. Blair and headmaster James Pound. Pound served as principal and school superintendent until his retirement in 1988. Although the school is open today to students of all races, it was founded by white parents, one of several segregation academies started in response to the federally mandated racial integration of Leon County Schools. Pensacola Christian Academy
Pensacola Christian Academy (PCA) is a private Christian school serving elementary through high school grades. It is located in Pensacola, Florida, United States. History The school was founded as Pensacola Christian School in 1954 by Arlin Horton (who later established Pensacola Christian College) and his wife Beka. PCS began in a three classroom building, offering only three classes from kindergarten through second grade. One grade was added each year until the school reached 9th grade. In the early days PCS was one of the only schools with air-conditioned class rooms. Grades ten through twelve were added after the school was moved to a larger facility in the mid 1960s. In 1994 PCS completed a new state-of-the-art facility located on Brent Lane in Pensacola.
