Florida's 8th House District elects one member of the Florida House of Representatives. The district is represented by Ramon Alexander. The district is located in the Florida Panhandle, and encompasses part of the Big Bend. The district covers all of Gadsden County, as well as central Leon County. The largest city in the district is state capital Tallahassee, though this district excludes the downtown and northeastern portions of the city. As of the 2010 Census, the district's population is 156,188. This district is majority-minority. This district covers part of the eastern Panhandle, including the heavily African-American population in Gadsden County and the college population in the Tallahassee metropolitan area. As a result, it has skewed heavily Democratic, with Republicans almost never contesting it. Ramon Alexander
Ramon J. Alexander (born October 19, 1984) is an American politician who served as a member of the Florida House of Representatives from 2016 to 2022. Florida's 1st Congressional District
Florida's 1st congressional district is a congressional district in the U.S. state of Florida, covering the state's western Panhandle. It includes all of Escambia, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, and Walton counties and portions of Holmes county. The district is anchored in Pensacola and also includes the large military bedroom communities and tourist destinations of Navarre and Fort Walton Beach and stretches along the Emerald Coast. The district is currently represented by Republican Matt Gaetz. With a Cook Partisan Voting Index rating of R+20, it is one of the most Republican districts in Florida. Alfred James Lawson Jr. (born September 23, 1948) is an American businessman and politician who was the U.S. representative for Florida's 5th congressional district from 2017 to 2023. The district, which was eliminated following redistricting during the 2022 Florida legislative session, stretched across most of the border with Georgia, including most of the majority-black areas between Tallahassee and Jacksonville. Marianna is a city in and the county seat of Jackson County, Florida, United States, and it is home to Chipola College. The population was 6,102 at the 2010 census. Earl Dewitt Hutto (May 12, 1926 – December 14, 2020) was an American politician who served as U.S. Representative from Florida's 1st congressional district.
