Florida's 8th House District
Florida's 8th House District elects one member of the Florida House of Representatives. The district is represented by Ramon Alexander. The district is located in the Florida Panhandle, and encompasses part of the Big Bend. The district covers all of Gadsden County, as well as central Leon County. The largest city in the district is state capital Tallahassee, though this district excludes the downtown and northeastern portions of the city. As of the 2010 Census, the district's population is 156,188. This district is majority-minority. This district covers part of the eastern Panhandle, including the heavily African-American population in Gadsden County and the college population in the Tallahassee metropolitan area. As a result, it has skewed heavily Democratic, with Republicans almost never contesting it. Ramon Alexander
Ramon J. Alexander (born October 19, 1984) is an American politician who served as a member of the Florida House of Representatives from 2016 to 2022. He represented the 8th district, which includes Gadsden County and sections of Tallahassee in Leon County since 2016. Archived December 23, 2016. From 2018 to 2020, Alexander served as Democratic whip. He graduated from Florida A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 2007. He is married to Taniyah Alexander. On May 11, 2022, Alexander was accused of sexual harassment by a male former employee of Florida A&M University. The victim stated that Alexander had groped him and sent sexually explicit photos and videos. Alexander acknowledged his sexual relationship with the man, but that it was consensual. Florida's 1st congressional district is a congressional district in the U.S. state of Florida, covering the state's western Panhandle. It includes all of Escambia, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, and Walton counties and portions of Holmes county. The district is anchored in Pensacola and also includes the large military bedroom communities and tourist destinations of Navarre and Fort Walton Beach and stretches along the Emerald Coast.
