Flor Coffey
Florence Coffey (10 June 1920 – 25 April 2014) was an Irish hurler who played as a centre-back for the Tipperary senior team. Born in Boherlahen, County Tipperary, Coffey first arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he first linked up with the Tipperary minor team before later joining the junior side. He made his senior debut during the 1943 championship. Coffey immediately became a regular member of the team and won two All-Ireland medals, one Munster medal and one National Hurling League medal. As a member of the Munster inter-provincial team on a number of occasions, Coffey won one Railway Cup medal as a non-playing substitute. At club level he was a two-time Connacht medallist, firstly with Boherlahan–Dualla and later with Thurles Sarsfields. Boherlahan–Dualla GAA
Boherlahan–Dualla GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club associated with the villages of Boherlahan and Dualla in County Tipperary, Ireland. The parish of Boherlahan–Dualla is a large parish in Tipperary, and Boherlahan-Dualla GAA club competes in the Mid-Tipperary Division. The Boherlahan–Dualla parish borders seven parishes from three separate divisions, Holycross–Ballycahill GAA and Moycarkey–Borris GAA to the north who play in the Mid-Tipperary division, to the west it borders Knockavilla–Donaskeigh Kickhams GAA, Clonoulty–Rossmore GAA, Golden–Kilfeacle GAA and Cashel King Cormacs GAA, all of whom play in the West Tipperary division, and to the east, Killenaule GAA who play in the South Tipperary division. The club is primarily involved in hurling, and throughout its history has produced many hurlers who have competed for the club and for the Tipperary county team. Tipperary Senior Club Hurling Championship
The Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the FBD Insurance Tipperary County Senior Hurling Championship) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Tipperary County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association since 1887 for the top hurling teams in the county of Tipperary in Ireland. The series of games are played during the summer and autumn months with the county final currently being played at Semple Stadium in October. The prize for the winning team is the Dan Breen Cup. Initially played as a knock-out competition on a divisional basis, the championship currently features a group stage followed by a knock-out stage. The Tipperary County Championship is an integral part of the wider Munster Senior Club Hurling Championship. The winners of the Tipperary county final join the champions of the other four hurling counties to contest the provincial championship. 32 teams currently participate in the Tipperary County Championship. Thurles Sarsfields Hurlers
Thurles (; ''Durlas Éile'') is a town in County Tipperary, Ireland. It is located in the civil parish of the same name in the barony of Eliogarty and in the ecclesiastical parish of Thurles. The cathedral church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Cashel and Emly is located in the town. Location and access Thurles is located in mid-County Tipperary and is surrounded by the Silvermine Mountains (to the northwest) and the Slieveardagh Hills (to the southeast). The town itself is built on a crossing of the River Suir. The M8 motorway connects Thurles to Cork and Dublin via the N75 and N62 roads. The 1949 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship was the 63rd staging of the All-Ireland hurling championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1887. The championship began on 15 May 1949 and ended on 4 September 1949. Waterford were the defending champions, however, they were defeated in the provincial championship. Tipperary won the title following a 3-11 to 0-3 defeat of Laois. The All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship 1945 was the 59th series of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, Ireland's premier hurling knock-out competition.
