Floetry
Floetry were an English contemporary R&B, R&B duo comprising Marsha Ambrosius ("The Songstress") and The Floacist, Natalie Stewart ("The Floacist"). The group recorded two studio albums and one live album and sold over 1,500,000 records worldwide. Formed in 1997 Floetry started on the performance poetry stage. They worked with many US musicians and artists including: Jill Scott (singer), Jill Scott, Queen Latifah, Michael Jackson, Common (rapper), Common, The Roots and Bilal (American singer), Bilal and more founders of Neo soul, Neo-Soul. Career Beginnings: 1994–2002 Marsha Ambrosius and Natalie Stewart first met on the basketball courts in London, England. The Floacist
Natalie "the Floacist" Stewart (born 13 February 1979) is an English rapper, singer, songwriter, spoken word artist, poet, and actress. Born in Germany and raised in London, she performed in various singing and dancing competitions as a child, and rose to fame in the early 2000s as part of the R&B girl-duo Floetry. During a break, Stewart's first album, ''Floetic Soul'' (2010), was released which established her as a solo artist, with the singles "Forever" and "Let Me". Her second solo album, ''Floetry Re:Birth'' (2012), contained singles "Say Yes", "Soul" and "Speechless". In 2014, she released a third solo album, ''Rise of the Phoenix Mermaid''. Marsha Ambrosius
Marsha Ambrosius-Billups (born 8 August 1977) is an English singer and songwriter from Liverpool, England. She embarked on her musical career as a member of Floetry. Ambrosius released her debut solo album '' Late Nights & Early Mornings'' in March 2011. She also has a brother, Marvin Ambrosius, a television presenter in the United Kingdom. Sugar Water Festival
The Sugar Water Festival was a music festival founded by American recording artists Erykah Badu, Queen Latifah and Jill Scott. The trek played to amphitheaters and arenas in the United States during the summer of 2005 and 2006. It began in 2005 as an event to bring awareness to health issues to African-American women. British duo Floetry opened shows during the 2005 run. The festival was relaunched briefly in 2006 with Kelis opening the show and comedian Mo'Nique hosting the festival. 2006 was the final year for the outing.
