A-side And B-side
The A-side and B-side are the two sides of phonograph records and cassettes; these terms have often been printed on the labels of two-sided music recordings. The A-side usually features a recording that its artist, producer, or record company intends to be the initial focus of promotional efforts and radio airplay and hopefully become a hit record. The B-side (or "flip-side") is a secondary recording that typically receives less attention, although some B-sides have been as successful as, or more so than, their A-sides. Use of this language has largely declined in the 21st century as the music industry has transitioned away from analog recordings towards digital formats without physical sides, such as CDs, downloads and streaming. BFI Flipside
BFI Flipside is a series of Dual Format Editions (DVD and Blu-ray released together) which was launched in May 2009 and is published by the British Film Institute's Video label. The series so far features a total of 65 feature and short films, as well as 10 archive interviews with the likes of Spike Milligan, Peter Cook and Richard Lester. The BFI Flipside charts "the untold history of British film", and includes performances by such celebrated actors as John Hurt, Jane Asher, Ian McNeice, Richard O'Brien, Tom Bell, Peter Cook, Barry Evans, Denholm Elliott and Judy Geeson in films directed by the likes of Clive Donner, Richard Lester, Barney Platts-Mills, John Irvin, Stuart Cooper, Guy Hamilton, Peter Watkins and James Hill. fripSide is a Japanese pop and trance duo originally formed by composer Satoshi Yaginuma (Sat) and singer Nao in February 2002. History In a 2008 interview, Satoshi said that he was a fan of TM Network and its member Tetsuya Komuro in his elementary and junior high school days and began to produce his music at the age of 14. When the group started, they were releasing their songs on the Japanese amateur and indie community, Muzie. fripSide's albums were always high in sales at Muzie's online CD shop. As of July 2006, more than 6,000 copies of the three original albums have been sold. They officially became a part of Visual Art's in 2006. They released their works under elseena-music entertainment and many of their songs were created for Visual Art's games, as well as other erotic game companies. Flipsyde
Flipsyde is an American alternative hip hop group from Oakland, California. Career Flipsyde currently consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Steve Knight, lead guitarist Dave Lopez, and rapper The Piper (Jinho Ferreira). Their 2005 debut album, ''We the People'', was released by Interscope Records and featured the singles " Happy Birthday" and " Someday", with the latter chosen as a theme song by NBC for the 2006 Winter Olympic Games, and appeared on the soundtrack for the 2008 film ''Never Back Down''. Flipsyde's 2008 follow-up album, ''State of Survival'', featured production by Akon and a minor hit in "When It Was Good", but the record did not chart. Flipside Film Festival
The Flipside film festival is an international film festival held in Plymouth, England, which focuses on independent and experimental film practice. It is put on by Flipside, a collective which explores participatory modes of film-making and alternatives to the industrial technical obsolescence model. It takes its inspiration and central research methodology from the DIY punk subculture. History The first Flipside Film Festival was conceived and curated by filmmaker Dan Paolantonio in 2008. It ran from 21–31 May 2008, in Plymouth and showcased both feature length and short films. ''Flipside TV'' was a television programme broadcast by Channel 4, Nation 277 and Paramount Comedy in the United Kingdom, which aired from 2003 to 2004. It was presented mainly by Richard Bacon (also the show's founder, and executive producer) and guest hosts, including Justin Lee Collins and Iain Lee. It was directed by Brendan Sheppard. The format was created by David Owen and Jay Pond-Jones based on an original idea by Chas Bayfield, which had been posted on the free ideas website Idea a Day. The show was broadcast live and included a presenter and three guests, each with their own television and digital satellite receiver.
