Gert-Rudolf Flick
Gert-Rudolf "Muck" Flick (born 29 May 1943) is a German art historian and collector, a member of the Flick family of industrialists whose wealth originated with Flick's grandfather, Friedrich Flick, who worked with the Nazis during the Second World War. He is the former publisher of ''Apollo'' magazine and is a visiting professor in the history of art at the University of Buckingham. He has written two well-received works on the history of art, ''Missing Masterpieces'' (2003) and ''Masters and Pupils'' (2008). Early life and family Gert-Rudolf Flick was born on 29 May 1943 in France to Otto-Ernst Flick and his wife Barbara Raabe. His grandfather was Friedrich Flick, a German industrialist convicted after the Second World War of using slave labour in his factories.

A flick is a unit of time equal to exactly 1/705,600,000 of a second. The figure was chosen so that time periods associated with frequencies commonly used for video or screen frame rate (24, 25, 30, 48, 50, 60, 90, 100 and 120 Hz), as well as audio sampling (8, 16, 22.05, 24, 32, 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96, and 192 kHz), can all be represented nicely with integers. That is useful in programming, because non-integer computing generally involves approximations, and possibly leads to noticeable errors. A flick is approximately 1.42 × 10−9 s, which makes it larger than a nanosecond but much smaller than a microsecond. The unit was launched in January 2018 by Facebook. A similar unit for integer representation of temporal points was proposed in 2004 under the name TimeRef, splitting a second into 14,112,000 parts. This makes 1 TimeRef equivalent to 50 flicks. In optical engineering and telecommunications engineering, the flick is a unit of spectral radiance. One flick corresponds to a spectral radiance of 1 watt per steradian per square centimeter of surface per micrometer of span in wavelength (W·sr−1·cm−2·μm−1). This is equivalent to 1010 watts per steradian per cubic meter (W·sr−1·m−3). In practice, spectral radiance is typically measured in microflicks (10−6 flicks). One microflick is equivalent to 10 kilowatts per steradian per cubic meter (kW·sr−1·m−3). Flick (fencing)
The flick is a technique used in modern fencing. It is used in foil and to a lesser extent, épée. The 1980s saw the widespread use of "flicks" — hits delivered with a whipping motion which bends the blade around the more traditional parries, and makes it possible to touch otherwise inaccessible areas, such as the back of the opponent. This has been regarded by some fencers as an unacceptable departure from the tradition of realistic combat, where only rigid blades would be used, while others feel that the flick adds to the variety of possible attacks and targets, thereby expanding the game of foil. Technique The flick consists of an angulated attack with a whipping motion that requires the defender to make a widened parry, and exploits the flexibility of the blade. Felicity Marion Peel Rea (née Corbin, born c. 1937), known as Flick Rea, is an English Liberal Democrat politician in Camden, north west London, who for 35 years represented the Fortune Green ward on Camden Council, before her retirement in 2021. Lawrence Flick
Lawrence Francis Flick (1856–1938) was an American physician who pioneered research and treatment of tuberculosis. He was influential as an author, lecturer, and historian. He is a co-founder of the National Association for the Study and Prevention of Tuberculosis (American Lung Association) and was the first to advocate its formation as early as 1898. Biography Flick was born August 10, 1856 on a farm near Carrolltown, Pennsylvania, to John Flick and Elizabeth Sharbaugh. James Patton Flick
James Patton Flick (August 28, 1845 – February 25, 1929) was a two-term Republican U.S. Representative from Iowa's 8th congressional district in the Gilded Age. Born in Bakerstown, Pennsylvania, Flick moved with his parents to Wapello County, Iowa, in 1852 and to Taylor County, Iowa in 1857. He attended the common schools. Following the outbreak of the American Civil War he enlisted in Company K, 4th Iowa Volunteer Infantry Regiment, as a private soldier and served from April 3, 1862, to September 4, 1864.
