Flesland Airport
Bergen Airport ( nn, Bergen lufthamn; ), alternatively Bergen Flesland Airport or simply Flesland Airport, is an international airport located at Flesland in the city and municipality of Bergen, Vestland, Norway. Opened in 1955, it is the second-busiest airport in Norway, with 6,306,623 passengers in 2018. Flesland is operated by the state-owned Avinor. Until 1999 Flesland Air Station of the Norwegian Air Force was co-located at the airport. Scandinavian Airlines (SAS), Norwegian Air Shuttle and Widerøe are the largest airlines operating at the airport. The route to Oslo Airport, Gardermoen is among the busiest in Europe. A substantial traffic is generated by CHC Helikopter Service and Bristow Norway to offshore oil platforms in the North Sea. Avinor AS is a state-owned limited company that operates most of the civil airports in Norway. The Norwegian state, via the Norwegian Ministry of Transport and Communications, controls 100 percent of the share capital. Avinor was created on 1 January 2003, by the privatization of the Norwegian Civil Aviation Administration known as ''Luftfartsverket''. Oslo Airport, Gardermoen
Oslo Airport ( no, Oslo lufthavn; ), alternatively referred to as Oslo Gardermoen Airport or simply Gardermoen, is the international airport serving Oslo, Norway, the capital and most populous city in the country. A hub for Flyr, Norse Atlantic Airways, Norwegian Air Shuttle, Scandinavian Airlines and Widerøe, it connects to 26 domestic and 158 international destinations. The airport is located northeast of Oslo, at Gardermoen at the border of municipalities Nannestad and Ullensaker, in Viken county. It has two parallel roughly north–south runways measuring and and 71 aircraft stands, of which 50 have jet bridges. The airport is connected to the city center by the high-speed railway Gardermoen Line served by mainline trains and Flytoget. Aktieselskapet Det Norske Luftfartsrederi or DNL was Norway's first scheduled airline, founded in 1918 and operated services between Bergen, Haugesund and Stavanger in 1920. It operated Supermarine Channel flying boats. Flatøy Air Station
Flatøy is an island in Alver Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The island lies in the district of Nordhordland, just north of the city of Bergen. The main village on the island is Krossneset on the southern part of the island. The northern part of the island, on the southwest shore of Kvernafjord, is very sparsely inhabited. Historically, the island was one of the two main islands of the old Meland Municipality. The island is strategically located at a major transportation crossroads. It lies between the Salhus neighborhood in the city of Bergen (to the south), the island of Holsnøy (to the west), and the village of Knarvik to the east. Bergen Light Rail
Bergen Light Rail ( no, Bybanen) is a light rail system in Bergen, Norway. The first stage of the project was a twenty-station stretch between the city center and Lagunen Storsenter, where the first 15 stations comprising a stretch opened in 2010, and the second was a stretch from Nesttun to Lagunen which opened in June 2013. A third stretch from Lagunen to Bergen Airport, Flesland opened in 2017. The second line between Kaigaten and Fyllingsdalen opened on 21 November 2022. Further plans for the project involve mooted extensions to Åsane and Storavatnet. Plans for rail transit have existed since the 1970s, following the 1965 closing of the Bergen Tramway. Herdla
Herdla is a former municipality in the old Hordaland county in Norway. The municipality existed from 1871 until its dissolution in 1964. The municipality encompassed a large group of about 2,000 islands and skerries covering about of land area, to the northwest of the city of Bergen in what is now parts of Øygarden, Alver, and Askøy municipalities in Vestland county. The administrative centre of the municipality was the small island-village of Herdla. Sandviken, Norway
Sandviken is a traditional neighbourhood of the city of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. Location Geographically, it is located northeast of the city center, in a small bay off the Byfjorden. The neighbourhood begins north of Bergenhus Fortress, and follows the coastline facing west. The Sandvik Road is the main thoroughfare through the area, which mostly consists of residential buildings. Sandviken has around 13,000 inhabitants. The early development of Sandviken consisted largely of water mills and shipyards. Later, traders from Bergen built landing places and warehouses in the area.
