The administrative centre of the municipality is the Flekkefjord (town), town of Flekkefjord. The villages of Sira, Norway, Sira, Gyland, Rasvåg, Kirkehavn, and Åna-Sira are located in Flekkefjord. Flekkefjord is the westernmost municipality of the geographical region of Sørlandet. Flekkefjord is approximately midway between the cities of Kristiansand (town), Kristiansand and Stavanger (city), Stavanger, located along European route E39 and the Sørlandet Line. Nes, Vest-Agder
Nes is a former municipality located in the old Vest-Agder county in Norway. The municipality existed from 1893 until its dissolution in 1965. The municipality is located in the southwestern part of the present-day municipality of Flekkefjord. Its administrative centre was the village of Nes, located just outside the town of Flekkefjord. History The municipality of Nes was established on 8 October 1893 when the old municipality of Nes og Hitterø was split into two: Nes and Hitterø. At the time of the split, Nes had a population of 1,704. In 1942, a part of Nes with 377 inhabitants was moved to the neighboring town of Flekkefjord. In the 1960s, there were major municipal mergers across Norway due to the work of the Schei Committee. Gyland
Gyland is a village in the municipality of Flekkefjord in Agder county in Norway. It is located in the northeastern part of Flekkefjord along the river Gylandselva, just a short distance north of the lake Kumlevollvatnet. The Sørlandet Line runs just south of the village, stopping at Gyland Station. The local village church, Gyland Church, was located in the village until 1929 when it was moved about to the southwest. Now a small chapel is located in Gyland where the old church was once standing. Sørlandet
Southern Norway (; lit. "The Southland") is the geographical List of regions of Norway, region (''landsdel'') along the Skagerrak coast of southern Norway. The region is an informal description since it does not have any governmental function. Hidra, Vest-Agder
Hidra is a former municipality that was located in the old Vest-Agder county in Norway. The municipality existed from 1893 until its dissolution in 1965. It encompassed the islands and southern coastal part of the present-day municipality of Flekkefjord in what is now Agder county. The municipality included the islands of Hidra and Andabeløya as well as 56 other islands, plus the mainland coast from Abelsnes to the river Sira. The administrative centre was the village of Kirkehavn where Hidra Church is located. Hidra was home to Olav Omland (1909–1998), a landscape and coastal painter. Gyland is a former municipality in the old Vest-Agder county, Norway. The municipality was located in the northeastern part of the present-day municipality of Flekkefjord in what is now Agder county. The municipality existed very briefly from 1838 until 1839 and then it was re-created in 1893 and it existed until 1965. The administrative centre was the village of Gyland where Gyland Church is located. Bakke is a former municipality in Vest-Agder county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1838 until its dissolution in 1965. It was located in the present-day municipalities of Sirdal and Flekkefjord. It included the whole Sirdalen valley along the Rogaland county border, stretching from the Aust-Agder county border in the north to Sirnes and the lake Lundevatnet in the south.
