The Flechas Verdes Division was a division of the Nationalist forces during the Spanish Civil War. The name means "Green Arrows" in Spanish. It was created when the Flechas Azules Mixed Brigade was expanded into two division-sized units: the Flechas Verdes and Flechas Azules Divisions. The Flechas Verdes Division served in the Catalonia Offensive, the final offensive of the Spanish Civil War. Nationalist Faction (Spanish Civil War)
The Nationalist faction ( es, Bando nacional) or Rebel faction ( es, Bando sublevado) was a major faction in the Spanish Civil War of 1936 to 1939. It was composed of a variety of right-leaning political groups that supported the Spanish Coup of July 1936 against the Second Spanish Republic and Republican faction and sought to depose Manuel Azaña, including the Falange, the CEDA, and two rival monarchist claimants: the Alfonsist Renovación Española and the Carlist Traditionalist Communion. In 1937, all the groups were merged into the FET y de las JONS. Catalonia Offensive
The Catalonia Offensive ( ca, Ofensiva de Catalunya, es, Ofensiva de Cataluña) was part of the Spanish Civil War. The Nationalist Army started the offensive on 23 December 1938 and rapidly conquered Republican-held Catalonia with Barcelona (the Republic's capital city from October 1937). Barcelona was captured on 26 January 1939. The Republican government headed for the French border. Thousands of people fleeing the Nationalists also crossed the frontier in the following month, to be placed in internment camps. Franco closed the border with France by 10 February 1939. Emilio Battisti (Milan, 22 December 1889 – Bologna, 23 November 1971) was an Italian general during World War II. Biography He was born in Milan on December 22, 1889, the son of Silvio Battisti and Giuseppina Acconci. After enlisting in the Royal Italian Army he began to attend the Royal Academy of Infantry and Cavalry in Modena as an officer cadet, graduating in 1910 with the rank of second lieutenant in the Alpini corps. He was assigned to the "Vestone" Alpini Battalion of the 8th Alpini Regiment, and a few months later, in 1911, he left to fight in Libya during the Italo-Turkish War, earning two War Crosses for Military Valor.
