Flat Creek (James River Tributary)
Flat Creek is a stream in Barry and Stone counties of southern Missouri. It is a tributary of the James River. The stream source is north of Washburn and the confluence is with the James River arm of Table Rock Lake north of Cape Fair.''Missouri Atlas & Gazetteer,'' DeLorme, 1998, First edition, p. 61, From its headwaters near Washburn, the stream flows northeast parallel to Missouri Route 37 passing through southeast Cassville. It continues to the northeast until meeting Little Flat Creek south of McDowell. The stream then flows to the southeast past Jenkins and under Missouri Route 248. The stream course begins to meander turning east and passing under Missouri Route 39 north of Cato. It meanders east passing into Stone County to enter a north arm of Table Rock Lake after passing under Missouri Route 173 north of Cape Fair. Table Rock Lake
Table Rock Lake is an artificial lake or reservoir in the Ozarks of southwestern Missouri and northwestern Arkansas in the United States. Designed, built and operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the lake is impounded by Table Rock Dam (located ), which was constructed from 1954 to 1958 on the White River. The lake is a popular attraction for the city of Branson, Missouri, and the nearby town of Shell Knob, Missouri. There are several commercial marinas along the lake, and Table Rock State Park is located on the east side, both north and south of Table Rock Dam. Downstream from the dam, the Missouri Department of Conservation operates a fish hatchery, which is used to stock trout in Lake Taneycomo, which begins immediately downstream from the Table Rock Dam. Route 173 is a highway in southwestern Missouri. Its northern terminus is at Route 265/ Route 413 in Elsey; its southern terminus is at Route 76 in Cape Fair. Route description Route 173 begins at an intersection with Route 76 in Cape Fair, Stone County, heading north on a two-lane undivided road. The road passes through wooded areas with some homes, curving to the northwest. The route turns to the north again, running along the west bank of Table Rock Lake before crossing the lake. Route 173 passes through more forests, curving northwest before heading north through a mix of fields and woods with occasional residences. Route 39 is a two-lane highway in southwest Missouri. Its northern terminus is at U.S. Route 54 between Collins and El Dorado Springs at the community of Cedar Springs; its southern terminus is at the Arkansas state line (north of Berryville, Arkansas) where it continues as Highway 221. Route 39 is one of the original 1922 state highways. At that time, its southern terminus was at the Dade/ Lawrence County line south of Pennsboro. There is a short Business Route 39 in Mount Vernon. Route 248 is a highway in southwest Missouri. Its eastern terminus is at U.S. Route 65 in Branson. Its western terminus is at Route 76/ Route 86/ Route 112 in Cassville. Route description Route 248 begins at a diverging diamond interchange with U.S. Route 65 at the northern terminus of Business US 65. The highway proceeds west through northern Branson as the Shepherd of the Hills Expressway, which despite its name is a four-lane boulevard with no controlled-access interchanges. It eventually turns north as a two-lane highway and leaves Branson (Shepherd of the Hills Expressway continues westward as a separate highway from an intersection near Kirby Van Burch's theater).
