Flamin' Groovies is an American rock band that formed in San Francisco in 1965, originally co-led by Roy Loney and Cyril Jordan. Roy Loney (April 13, 1946 – December 13, 2019) was an American rock musician, best known as the original lead singer of the Flamin' Groovies. ''Fantastic Plastic'' is the ninth studio album by The Flamin' Groovies, released on September 22, 2017, and produced by Cyril Jordan and J. Jaffe. The first new album from the Groovies since 1993, it features the reunion of the Groovies most commercially successful line-up, the classic 1970s combo of guitarists/vocalists Jordan and Chris Wilson and bassist George Alexander, who recorded three albums together before splitting up in 1981. Background For 2013, the Hoodoo Gurus, with whom the Flamin' Groovies had played in Australia, put together an invitational named ''Dig It Up'' to play at four cities in Australia and invited Jordan to participate. Greil Marcus (born June 19, 1945) is an American author, music journalist and cultural critic. He is notable for producing scholarly and literary essays that place rock music in a broader framework of culture and politics. Biography Marcus was born Greil Gerstley in San Francisco, California, the only son of Greil Gerstley and Eleanor Gerstley (''née'' Hyman), a Jewish woman. His father, a naval officer, died in December 1944, when a Philippine typhoon sank the USS ''Hull'', on which he was serving as second-in-command. Rockfield Studios is a residential recording studio located in the Wye Valley just outside the village of Rockfield, Monmouthshire, Wales. It was originally founded in 1963 by brothers Kingsley and Charles Ward. Facilities Rockfield is a two-studio facility consisting of The Coach House and The Quadrangle.
