Flametree is a coastal locality in the Whitsunday Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Flametree had a population of 122 people. Geography Although mountainous in most parts, Flametree has a narrow, relatively flat valley which is used for the Whitsunday Airport (not to be confused with the larger Whitsunday Coast Airport at Proserpine). The locality is presumably named after Flame Tree Creek (formerly Adder Creek) which flows from the south-west of the locality to the north-east of the locality where there is a small sandy north-facing beach on Pioneer Bay. The north-west of the locality is part of Conway National Park. Cannonvale is a coastal locality in the Whitsunday Region, Queensland, Australia. In the Cannonvale had a population of 5,716 people. Geography Pioneer Bay (part of the Coral Sea, ) forms the northern boundary of the locality. Pigeon Island is a marine island () within Pioneer Bay. It is a roosting area for the Nutmeg pigeon which migrate south to the Whitsundays in large numbers in the summer months each year. The Whitsunday Region is a local government area located in North Queensland, Australia. Established in 2008, it was preceded by two previous local government areas with a history extending back to the establishment of regional local government in Queensland in 1879. Shute Harbour is a coastal locality and harbour in the Whitsunday Region of Queensland, Australia. In the , Shute Harbour had a population of 122 people. Geography Shute Harbour is in sheltered port for small vessels located approximately 10 kilometres east of Airlie Beach. Serving mainly as a boarding point for ferries between the Whitsunday Islands and the mainland, it is also home to many charter boat operations and provides the best access to many Whitsunday island resorts and campsites. The Proserpine–Shute Harbour Road (State Route 59) enters the locality from the west, and ends in the centre. Bruce Highway
The Bruce Highway is a major highway in Queensland, Australia. Commencing in the state capital, Brisbane, it passes through areas close to the eastern coast on its way to Cairns in Far North Queensland. Conway National Park
Conway is a national park in Queensland, Australia, 911 km northwest of Brisbane. The park's main feature is the Conway Peninsula which is covered by the largest area of lowland tropical rainforest in Queensland outside Tropical North Queensland. Walk-in bush camping is permitted however there are no established camp sites. There are a number of walking tracks graded from easy to moderate. The average elevation of the terrain is 44 meters. Proserpine () is a rural town and locality in the Whitsunday Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , the locality of Proserpine had a population of 3,562 people. Geography Proserpine is situated on the Bruce Highway. Proserpine is located on the North Coast line with Proserpine railway station located in Hinschen Street in the town centre. The town is located along the banks of the Proserpine River and is immediately surrounded by floodplains used for sugarcane and cattle farming.
