Flakiss
Yahira Arazeli Garcia, known professionally as Flakiss, is an American rapper and actress known for such films as ''End of Watch''. Born Yahira Arazeli Garcia, she got the nickname Flakiss, short for the Spanish language, Spanish ''flaquita'', or "skinny girl," from her mother. Flakiss was raised in South Los Angeles, South Central. Flakiss has recorded three hip hop albums for Univision Music Group, Univision Records. She was focused on Latin hip-hop music, or "urban regional." Some of her influences were Tupac and Missy Elliott. In 2006, she requested to be released from her contract and in 2008, she left music for a while to focus on her life. Flakiss made her acting debut in the film ''End of Watch''. The director, David Ayer, had been a fan of Flakiss's music and cast her in the film. Flakiss played the character of La La in the movie. ''End of Watch'' is a 2012 American action thriller film written and directed by David Ayer. It stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña as Brian Taylor and Mike Zavala, two Los Angeles Police Department officers who work in South Central Los Angeles. The film focuses on their day-to-day police work, their dealings with a certain group of gang members, their friendship with each other, and their personal relationships. Ayer, who had written several police procedural films previously, wanted the film to focus more on the friendship between partners and daily police work and subordinate the contextual elements of the drug trafficking story taking place on the streets of south-central LA.
