Jeff Flake
Jeffry Lane Flake (born December 31, 1962) is an American politician and diplomat who served as a United States senator from Arizona from 2013 to 2019. A member of the Republican Party, he previously served in the United States House of Representatives from 2001 to 2013 and later as the U.S. ambassador to Turkey from 2022 to 2024. Born in Snowflake, Arizona, Flake attended Brigham Young University, from which he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in international relations, and later his Master of Arts degree in political science. In the early 1980s, he became a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in South Africa, where he learned to speak Afrikaans. Flake is a British brand of chocolate bar currently manufactured by British chocolate company Cadbury, owned by Mondelez International, consisting of thinly folded milk chocolate. The bar has a unique crumbly texture, and softens but does not melt when heated (unless put in a velvetiser). History The original Flake product was first developed in 1920 and was discovered by chance by Ralph Thompson, an employee of Cadbury's at the Bournville factory who noticed thin streams of excess chocolate falling from moulds cooled into flaky ripples. By 1930, Cadbury's was selling half-length Flake specifically for garnishing vanilla soft serve ice cream in a cone (" 99 Flakes") which was served by ice cream vendors. Flake were an Australian pop and rock group which formed in 1968. They released an album, ''How's Your Mother!'', in December 1971 on the Violet's Holiday label, distributed by Festival. The group appeared on the ''Go-Set'' National Top 60 singles chart with cover versions of Bob Dylan's " This Wheel's on Fire" (July 1970), Marmalade's " Reflections of My Life" (January 1971), Vanda and Young's "Life is Getting Better" (June 1971) and Honeybus' "Under the Silent Tree" (November 1971). Christian "Flake" Lorenz (; born 16 November 1966) is a German musician. He is best known as the keyboardist in Neue Deutsche Härte band Rammstein, as well as the main composer of the band along with guitarist Richard Kruspe. He was also a member of the East German punk band Feeling B. Lorenz has released a solo album named ''Flake feiert Weihnachten'' ("Flake celebrates Christmas"), which consists of covers of popular Christmas songs. Career Feeling B In 1983, at age 16, Lorenz began to play in the band Feeling B with Paul Landers and Aljoscha Rompe, a Swiss singer living in East Berlin. Flake or a Vector Shape is a programming library that is used in Calligra Suite and the KOffice 2 series. Flake provides the basic concept of a "shape". To the end user a shape appears as some piece of content such as an image or a text. A shape can be in any form (square, circle, etc.) and contain any kind of media since the Shape is responsible for drawing itself. All components of KOffice are being overhauled to use Flake as much as possible. Functionality The functionality of Flake is divided up between Shapes, which display content, and Tools, which manipulate content or the user interface. The Shins are an American indie rock band formed in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in 1996. Margareta "Minna" Flake (née Mai; November 27, 1886 – February 12, 1958) was a German born physician and socialist who fled Germany during World War II and settled in New York City. Early life Margareta Mai was born on November 27, 1886, in Würzburg in the German Empire. She was the youngest of four children born to David Mai, a Jewish grain merchant, and his wife, Berta Mai. She undertook medical studies from the University of Würzburg, graduating in 1911, and the University of Berlin, graduating in 1915, and becoming a doctor in 1920.
