Flag Of Volyn Oblast
Flag of Volyn region is a banner with aspect ratio 2 to 3. In the center on a red (color of ripe cherry) background is an isosceles cross of white (silver) color, touching the ends of the edges of the flag. In the upper left corner is one of the oldest versions of the historical crosses of Volhynia of the 15th to the 18th century centuries (so-called Cross pattée). The flag is based on the historical traditions of the region and was developed and adopted on the initiative of the chairman of the Volyn Regional Society of Local Historians Gennady Bondarenko. Volyn Region
Volyn Oblast ( uk, Воли́нська о́бласть, translit=Volýnsʹka óblastʹ; also referred to as Volyn or Lodomeria) is an oblast (province) in northwestern Ukraine. Its administrative centre is Lutsk. Kovel is the westernmost town and the last station in Ukraine on the rail line running from Kyiv to Warsaw. A cross pattée, cross patty or cross paty, also known as a cross formy or cross formée (french: croix pattée, german: Tatzenkreuz), is a type of Christian cross with arms that are narrow at the centre, and often flared in a curve or straight line shape, to be broader at the perimeter. The form appears very early in medieval art, for example in a metalwork treasure binding given to Monza Cathedral by Queen Theodelinda (died 628), and the 8th-century lower cover of the Lindau Gospels in the Morgan Library.
