Flag Of The Donetsk Region
The flag of the Donetsk Region ( uk, Прапор Донецької області, Prapor Donets'koy oblasti, russian: Флаг Донецкой области, Flag Donetskoy oblasti), often referred to as the flag of Donbas ( uk, Прапор Донбасу, Prapor Donbasu, russian: Флаг Донбасса, Flag Donbassa), is the official flag of the Ukrainian region of Donetsk. It was designed by Nina Shcherbak ( uk, Ніна Щербак, russian: Нина Щербак), a Donetsk artist. The flag was officially adopted on 17 August 1999. The flag has proportions of 3:2, and is divided into two areas. In the upper part, there is a rising gold sun with 12 sunbeams in the upper steel blue part of flag (resembling the sky). In the lower black part (resembling the Donets Coal Basin) there are five gold ovals one under another (the reflection of the sun on the surface). Description A rectangular panel with a ratio of 1.5 length to 1.2 width ( 5:4). The flag is divided horizontally into two equal parts, the top half colored azure and the bottom sable (black). Overlaid in the center lies the shield (escutcheon) from the coat of arms of Donetsk. The flag is hoist at the left, with the flagpole tipped. Bakhmut ( uk, Ба́хмут, ) is a city in the Donbas and the administrative centre of Bakhmut Raion in Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine. It is located on the Bakhmutka River, about 89 km north of Donetsk city, the administrative center of the oblast. Donetsk–Krivoy Rog Soviet Republic
The Donetsk–Krivoy Rog Soviet Republic or Donetsk–Kryvyi Rih Soviet Republic (russian: Донецко-Криворожская советская республика , translit = Donetsko-Krivorozhskaya sovyetskaya respublika, ) was a self-declared Soviet republic of the Russian SFSR proclaimed on 12 February 1918. It was founded three days after the government of the Ukrainian People's Republic (UPR) signed its Treaty of Brest-Litovsk with the Central Powers, which recognised the borders of the UPR. Lenin did not support the creation of the entity and neither did Sverdlov. Some other Bolsheviks like Elena Stasova, however, sent a telegraph of best wishes. Russian Separatist Forces In Donbas
The Donetsk People's Militia and Luhansk People's Militia (formerly also called Russian separatist forces in Donbas) are pro-Russian paramilitaries in the Donbas region of eastern Ukraine, which have been fighting the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Russo-Ukrainian War. During the Donbas War (2014–2022), they were affiliated with the self-declared Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) and Luhansk People's Republic (LPR).
