Flag Of Liguria
The flag of Liguria is one of the official symbols of the region of Liguria, Italy. The current flag was adopted on 7 July 1997. Symbolism Each color has the following meaning: * The green represents the Ligurian Alps and the Ligurian Apennines; * The red represents the blood shed for Italian unification; * The blue represents the Ligurian Sea. At the center of the flag is the coat of arms of Liguria: a stylized caravel, symbolizing the maritime traditions of the region and its great navigators, positioned below the historical flag of the Republic of Genoa (the current flag of the modern-day city of Genoa). Lega Liguria ( en, Liguria League), whose complete name is ( en, Liguria League for Salvini Premier), is a regionalist political party active in Liguria. Torriglia ( lij, Torriggia) is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Metropolitan City of Genoa in the Italian region Liguria, located in the upper Trebbia valley, about northeast of Genoa. Torriglia borders the following municipalities: Davagna, Lorsica, Lumarzo, Mocònesi, Montebruno, Montoggio, Neirone, Propata, Rondanina, Valbrevenna. History The town was probably founded in Roman times. In the Middle Ages it was a possession of the Bobbio Abbey, and then (1227) of the Malaspina and (mid-14th century) of the Fieschi, who built a castle here. The Republic of Noli ( it, Repubblica di Noli; lij, Repubbrica de Nöi) was an Italian maritime republic that was centred on the city of Noli, in Liguria, and existed from 1192 to 1797. The area is now in the province of Savona, Italy. Marquisate Of Finale
The Marquisate of Finale was an Italian state in what is now Liguria, part of the former medieval Aleramici March. It was ruled for some six centuries by the Aleramici branch known as marquesses del Vasto (when they also held the March of Savona) and later Del Carretto, when Savona became a free commune. In 1598 the Marquisate was sold by its last marquis, Sforza Andrea to Philip II of Spain and in 1713 it was finally ceded to the Republic of Genoa, where it remained so until 1797, when it was invaded by Napoleon, ceasing its existence.
