Fjölnir Women's Basketball
The Fjölnir women's basketball team, commonly known as Fjölnir, represents Ungmennafélagið Fjölnir multi-sport club and is based in Grafarvogur, Reykjavík. As of the 2018–2019 season it plays in the Icelandic 1. deild kvenna (basketball), 1. deild kvenna. History Fjölnir played in the top-tier Úrvalsdeild kvenna (basketball), Úrvalsdeild kvenna from 2007 to 2009 and 2010 to 2013. It won its first Úrvalsdeild victory on 3 November 2007. On 2 March 2019, the team won the 1. deild kvenna (basketball), 1. deild kvenna for the third time in its history. It face Grindavík women's basketball, Grindavík in the promotion playoffs for a seat in the Úrvalsdeild where it lost 0-3. After the 2019-2020 season was discontinued due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Iceland, Fjölnir was appointed the winner of 1. deild kvenna, due to being in top place at the time, and promoted to the Úrvalsdeild kvenna. Úrvalsdeild kvenna; English: Women's Premier League, known as Subway deild kvenna for sponsorship reasons, is the highest basketball competition among women's clubs in Iceland. It is administrated by the Icelandic Basketball Federation. It was founded in 1952 and, until 2007, it was known as 1. deild kvenna (English: Women's First division). Slavica Dimovska
Slavica Nakov-Dimovska (born 29 July 1985) is a Macedonian basketball player and a former member of the Macedonian national basketball team. She won the Icelandic championship with Haukar in 2009 when she was named the Úrvalsdeild Foreign Player of the Year and the Úrvalsdeild Playoffs MVP. In 2010, she was named the Macedonian Women's Basketball Player of the Year. Career From 2005 to 2007, Dimovska played for Triglias in Greece. Sigrún Sjöfn Ámundadóttir
Sigrún Sjöfn Ámundadóttir (born 23 November 1988) is an Icelandic former basketball player. During her career, she has won the Icelandic championship two times, in 2006 and 2007, and the Icelandic Basketball Cup four times. She is the Úrvalsdeild kvenna all-time career leader in rebounds and games played and in the league's top four in scoring, assists and steals. Playing career After coming up through the junior ranks of Skallagrímur, Sigrún started her senior career with Haukar in 2004, and helped the club to two national championships in 2006 and 2007. She joined KR prior the 2007-2008 season. She averaged 11.3 points and 11.3 rebounds for the season, helping KR to the second best record in the league. Sigrún Björg Ólafsdóttir (born 19 June 2001) is an Icelandic basketball player for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and the Icelandic national team. She started her career with Haukar in the Icelandic Úrvalsdeild kvenna where she won the national championship in 2018. Playing career After coming up through Haukar junior teams, Sigrún played her first games in the top-tier Úrvalsdeild kvenna during the 2016–2017 season. She helped Haukar to the national championship in 2018, scoring 11 points, including three 3-pointers, in the fifth and deciding game of the best-of-five finals series against Valur.
