Five Star (album)
''Five Star'' is the self-titled fifth studio album by the British pop group Five Star, released in 1990. The album, which was their first for Epic Records, was not a commercial success and failed to chart in the UK after the two lead singles, " Treat Me Like a Lady" and " Hot Love", both failed to make the UK Top 40. Unlike their previous albums, this album was written entirely by the band themselves with no outside writers (see track listing for credits). The Japanese edition of the album has an extended mix of the single " Hot Love". A 2-disc Deluxe Edition of the album was released in the UK by Cherry Pop Records in 2013. Five Star
Five Star (also styled as 5 Star) are a British pop group, formed in 1983 and comprising siblings Stedman, Lorraine, Denise, Doris and Delroy Pearson. Between 1985 and 1988, Five Star had four top 20 albums and 15 top 40 singles in the UK, including the top 10 hits " System Addict" (1986), "Can't Wait Another Minute" (1986), " Find the Time" (1986), " Rain or Shine" (1986), " Stay Out of My Life" (1987) and "The Slightest Touch" (1987). They won the 1987 Brit Award for Best British Group. Biography 1980s The five-piece group of siblings from Romford were masterminded by their father and manager, Buster Pearson, who modelled them in the style of the Jackson 5. Denise Pearson
Denise Lisa Maria Pearson (born 13 June 1968), sometimes credited as Deniece Pearson, is an English singer-songwriter. She was the lead vocalist with the British pop/ R&B group Five Star, which comprised herself and her four siblings. The group was created and managed by their father, Buster Pearson, in 1983. Stedman Pearson
Stedman Pearson (born 29 June 1964) is an English singer and dancer, most notable for being a member of the pop group Five Star with his four siblings. Career Pearson is the eldest of five siblings, and he studied both dance and fashion at college prior to embarking on a career in music. In 1983, Pearson (then aged 19) joined his teenaged brother and sisters in Five Star, which was created and managed by their father, former musician Buster Pearson. In addition to performing backing vocals, Stedman's interest in dance and fashion would play an integral role in the group and he began designing some of the outfits that would ultimately become the group's trademark matching stage costumes. The glittering costumes coupled with their synchronised dance routines often led to comparisons with The Jackson Five. Doris Pearson (born Doris May Pearson, June 8, 1966) is an English singer and ex member of the pop group, Five Star. Career Doris Pearson, the eldest of the three Pearson sisters, was born in Brent, London. She was the choreographer of the group, teaching the other members of Five Star the dance routines to their hits. She, like the other members, sang backing vocals and wrote songs for Five Star albums. "Hot Love" is a 1990 single by British pop group Five Star, the second release for their new record label, Epic. Peaking at #68, this track would be the group's last appearance in the UK Top 75 to date. The group recorded the single in their new hi-tech studio that was built in the grounds of their family home, Stone Court, in Ascot, Berkshire. The single proved a flop, and the press were quick to pounce, claiming Five Star's career was rapidly fading. After the single's release, the album ''Five Star'', was shelved by Epic, and merited only a U.S. release, although the album was made available in Britain on import towards the end of 1990. After a third single, "Shine" (released in 1991) failed to chart, the band left Epic and pursued a career in the United States. The video to the single was hardly shown on British TV.
