Five Corners District
Five Corners District is a management district covering sections of southern and Southwest Houston, Texas, United States. History The Texas Legislature created the district in 2007. A business owner named Mehdi Banijamali stated that 25 property owners had signed to have the district created even though there were 1,400 property owners in its boundaries. On one occasion a group of business owners sued the district, and a settlement ended that suit; as part of the settlement the business owners no longer had their properties assessed. Another suit was filed in 2012 with another group of business owners accusing the district organizers of deliberately excluding some businesses from the district. Southwest Houston
Southwest Houston is a region in Houston, Texas, United States. The area is considered to be from Texas State Highway 6, south of Westpark Tollway to north of U.S. Route 90. Many Section 8 (housing) complexes are located in Southwest Houston. Hurricane Katrina refugees came to the area in 2005. Evan Edward Worthing Early College High School is a secondary school located in the Sunnyside area of Houston, Texas, United States. Hiram Clarke is an area in Houston, Texas, United States, southwest of NRG Park (formerly Reliant Park). History Hiram Clarke Road was named after Hiram Clarke, a Houston Lighting & Power Co. assistant general manager and executive vice president. The Hiram Clarke area was annexed by Houston in the 1950s. The community originally consisted primarily of middle-class white residents, many of whom worked in the Texas Medical Center. As white flight to more suburban areas became the norm of the 1970s, racial and ethnic minorities replaced the original white residents. Black residents moving from inner city communities such as Fifth Ward and, later, Hispanic immigrants settled into the community. KUHT
KUHT (channel 8) is a PBS member television station in Houston, Texas, United States. Owned by the University of Houston System, it is sister to NPR member station KUHF (88.7 FM). The two stations share studios and offices in the Melcher Center for Public Broadcasting on the campus of the University of Houston. KUHT's transmitter is located near Missouri City, in unincorporated northeastern Fort Bend County. In addition, the station leased some of its studio operations to Tegna-owned CBS affiliate KHOU (channel 11) from August 2017 to February 2019 when the latter's original studios were inundated by Hurricane Harvey.
