The Fitzwilliam Club Championships also known as the Fitzwilliam Club Tennis Championships was a combined men's and women's grass court tennis tournament founded in 1884. The championship was an open club event organised by the Fitzwilliam Lawn Tennis Club, Dublin, Republic of Ireland. The tournament ran until 2003. Tom Chaytor
Thomas (Tom) Chaytor (13 November 1870 – 30 January 1951) was an Irish tennis player. He was Irish Lawn tennis Championships finalist in 1894 losing to Joshua Pim. He was a semi finalist at the 1894 Wimbledon Championships in the men's singles event and a quarter finalist in the men's doubles event. He won seven career titles out of fifteen finals. Career Tom Chaytor was born on 13 November 1870 in Killiney, County Dublin in Ireland. He was one of three of his brothers who also played tennis, including the 1890 Wimbledon quarter finalist Grainger Chaytor. He played his first tournament at the 1890 County Dublin Championships at the Lansdowne Lawn Tennis Club where he reached the semi finals losing to Thomas Harrison Griffiths in 3 sets. Grainger Chaytor
David Grainger Chaytor KC. (11 May 1868 – 13 July 1913) was an Irish tennis player and later lawyer. In major tournaments of the time he was a singles quarter finalist at the 1890 Wimbledon Championships, a three time quarter finalist at the Irish Championships, and finalist at the 1887 Northern Championships. Between 1885 and 1900 he won 21 career titles. Career Grainger Chaytor was born on 11 May 1868 in Killiney, County Dublin in Ireland. He was one of three of his brothers who also played tennis, including the 1894 Wimbledon semi finalist Tom Chaytor. Willoughby Hamilton
Willoughby Hamilton (born as James Willoughby Hamilton; 9 December 1864 – 27 September 1943) was a co-world No. 1 Irish male tennis player, a footballer and international badminton player. Tennis career Hamilton played his first tournament at the 1884 Irish Championships where he reached the quarter finals stage, before losing to Herbert Knox McKay. His significant major title wins include the Northern Championships (1888, 1889), and the Irish Championships (1889). In the latter tournament he defeated the six time Wimbledon champion William Renshaw in the all-comers final and then went on to defeat his brother Ernest Renshaw in the challenge round. This made him one of the favorites for the 1889 Wimbledon title but he suffered a five set defeat in the semifinal against Harry S. Barlow. Ernest Browne
Ernest de Sylly Hamilton Browne (11 July 1855 – 13 April 1946; also ''E. de S. H. Browne'') was an Irish tennis player who was active in the late 19th century. Career Browne played his first tournament in April at 1880 at a tournament staged in Cheltenham on clay he reached the final before losing to Ernest Renshaw. In late May 1880 he entered the Irish Lawn Tennis Championships and reached the All-Comers final losing to William Renshaw in straight sets. In 1881 he entered three tournaments this year including the South of England Championships losing in the 1st round. At Irish Championships he lost a second match against Herbert Lawford retiring at two sets to one down. He reached his second successive Cheltenham final in 1881 before losing to William Renshaw.
