Fisher Power Station
The Fisher Power Station is a conventional hydroelectric power station located in north-western Tasmania, Australia. Technical details Part of the MerseyForth scheme that comprises eight hydroelectric power stations, the Fisher Power Station is the second station in the scheme. The power station is located in the upper reaches of the Fisher River. The station is supplied with water from Lake Mackenzie, supplemented by water run-off from the plateau and by water pumped from Yeates Creek and Parsons Falls pumping stations. Water flow to the station is via a -long flume, siphon and canal and then a -long vertical shaft, inclined shaft, tunnel and surface penstock. The water descends from the lake to the power station and then flows before flowing into Lake Parangana (see Parangana Power Station). Fisher River Cree Nation
Fisher River ( cr, ᐅᒉᑯ ᓰᐱᐩ, ocêko-sîpiy) is a Cree First Nations reserve located approximately 193 km north of Manitoba's capital city, Winnipeg. The Fisher River Cree Nation is composed of two reserves; Fisher River 44 and Fisher River 44A. The reserve population is 1945, the off reserve population is 1934 for a total of 3879 band members as of June 2017. Fisher River is 15,614 acres (6,319 hectares). Fisher River is named after the fisher, a North American mammal which belongs to the same family as weasels and skunks. The Chief of Fisher River is David Crate. Fisher Bay Provincial Park
Fisher Bay Provincial Park is located along the western shore of Lake Winnipeg near the mouth of the Fisher River. It was designated as a provincial park by the Government of Manitoba in 2011. The park is in size. The park is considered to be a Class II protected area under the International Union for Conservation of Nature protected area management categories. The land within the park continues to be used by the Fisher River Cree Nation for traditional activities. This First Nation worked with partners in environmental groups and the provincial government to gain the protection of the Provincial Parks Act legislation for the land that their people have used for generations. The Fisher River is a tributary of the Kootenay River (spelled Kootenai in the United States) in the U.S. state of Montana. The Fisher River properly begins at the confluence of its two main tributaries, the Pleasant Valley Fisher River and the Silver Butte Fisher River. Of the two tributaries, the Pleasant Valley Fisher River is the larger and is sometimes considered part of the Fisher River proper. A variant name of the Fisher River is Pleasant Valley River, and a variant name of the Pleasant Valley Fisher River is Fisher River. The river is part of the Columbia River basin, being a tributary of the Kootenay River, which is tributary to the Columbia River. The Fisher River is a tributary of the Yadkin River in northwestern North Carolina in the United States, also draining a very small portion of southwestern Virginia.DeLorme (2001). Brunet Island State Park
Brunet Island State Park is a state park of Wisconsin, USA, featuring a island in the Chippewa River. The remainder of the park's are on the east bank of the river. It is noted for its numerous white-tailed deer and large eastern hemlock trees. The park is located just north of Cornell in Chippewa County in the Northern Highland region of Wisconsin. The Old Abe State Trail begins in the park and follows the riverbank south to the town of Chippewa Falls, with access to Lake Wissota State Park. Natural history Brunet Island is formed by the confluence of the Chippewa and Fisher Rivers. Backwater channels at the north end of the island create several undeveloped islets. The regional landscape was strongly marked by glaciation during the Wisconsin glaciation. The park is forested with mature eastern hemlocks.
