First Strike (album)
''First Strike'' is the debut and sole studio album released by Swiss-American hard rock band Cobra. Originally released in 1983 by Epic Records, the record was produced by Tom Allom and remastered in 2008 by Rock Candy. The album in the British music magazine Kerrang! took first place in the import charts. The single "Blood on Your Money" received MTV airplay, while "Looking at You" and "Travelin' Man" received promotion at the Memphis TV Club. Swiss hard rock band Gotthard covered "Travelin' Man" on their 1994 album, ''Dial Hard'', and "Looking at You" for '' One Life One Soul - Best of Ballads'' in 2002. Cobra guitarist Mandy Meyer was a member of Gotthard between 1996 and 2003. Cobra (American Band)
Cobra was a Swiss-American hard rock band from Memphis, Tennessee, active in the early 1980s. First forming in 1982, the band released an album in 1983 that led to tours supporting acts like Quiet Riot and Nazareth. They are perhaps best-known for including several musicians who later joined more prominent bands, including future Survivor singer Jimi Jamison and Krokus – and later Asia – guitarist Mandy Meyer. Cobra went their separate ways in 1984. Hard Rock
Hard rock or heavy rock is a loosely defined subgenre of rock music typified by aggressive vocals and distorted electric guitars. Hard rock began in the mid-1960s with the garage, psychedelic and blues rock movements. Some of the earliest hard rock music was produced by the Kinks, the Who, The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Cream, Vanilla Fudge, and the Jimi Hendrix Experience. In the late 1960s, bands such as Blue Cheer, the Jeff Beck Group, Iron Butterfly, Led Zeppelin, Golden Earring, Steppenwolf and Deep Purple also produced hard rock. Kerrang!
''Kerrang!'' is a British weekly magazine devoted to rock, punk and heavy metal music, currently published by Wasted Talent (the same company that owns electronic music publication ''Mixmag''). It was first published on 6 June 1981 as a one-off supplement in the ''Sounds'' newspaper. Named after the onomatopoeic word that derives from the sound made when playing a power chord on a distorted electric guitar, ''Kerrang!'' was initially devoted to the new wave of British heavy metal and the rise of hard rock acts. In the early 2000s, it became the best-selling British music weekly. History ''Kerrang!'' was founded in 1981. The editor of the weekly music magazine ''Sounds'', Alan Lewis, suggested that Geoff Barton edit a one-off special edition focusing on the new wave of British heavy metal phenomenon and on the rise of other hard rock acts.

Gotthard (band)
Gotthard is a Swiss hard rock band founded in Lugano by Steve Lee and Leo Leoni. Their last eleven albums have all reached number 1 in the Swiss album charts, making them one of the most successful Swiss acts ever. With two million albums sold, they managed to get multi-platinum awards in different parts of the world. The band takes its name from the Saint-Gotthard Massif. Singer Steve Lee died in a motorcycle accident on 5 October 2010. In November 2011, Gotthard announced a new singer, Nic Maeder, through their official Facebook page and their website with a new song, "Remember It's Me", downloadable for free. Influences Influences include Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Whitesnake, Deep Purple, Bon Jovi, Van Halen and Aerosmith. Singer Steve Lee was especially fond of Whitesnake. Jimmy Wayne Jamison (August 23, 1951 – September 1, 2014) was an American singer. Best known as Jimi Jamison, he earned recognition as the frontman for the rock bands Target, Cobra, and Survivor from 1984 to 1989, performing the songs " Burning Heart" from the film ''Rocky IV'', " The Moment of Truth" from ''The Karate Kid'', along with other top-20 Survivor hits "I Can't Hold Back", " High On You", "The Search Is Over" and "Is This Love". Armand "Mandy" Meyer (born August 29 1960) is a Swiss-Canadian guitarist best known for being a member of the hard rock band Gotthard, the progressive rock band Asia, and the heavy metal band Krokus. Meyer has also worked with Cobra, Stealin' Horses and Katmandu. Early years Meyer was born August 29, 1960, in the town of Balcarres, Saskatchewan, Canada. The son of a Swiss dairy farmer and a Canadian mother, Meyer spent his first three years in Canada. After his parents were divorced his father took him back to Switzerland where he grew up in the house of his grandparents in Küssnacht am Rigi.
