First Sharad Pawar Ministry
Sharad Pawar broke away in 1978 from Government of Maharashtra led by Vasantdada Patil of Indian National Congress, formed the Indian National Congress (Socialist), allied with the Janata party and the Peasants' and Workers' Party of India (PWP) to form a coalition government of the Progressive Democratic Front (PDF) or Purogami Lokshahi Aghadi. The Progressive Democratic Front government was sworn in on 18 July 1978. This government was dismissed on 18 February 1980 following Indira Gandhi's return to power at the Centre. Sharad Pawar
Sharad Govindrao Pawar (Marathi pronunciation: əɾəd̪ pəʋaːɾ born 12 December 1940) is an Indian politician. He has served as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra on four occasions. He has held the posts of Minister of Defence and Minister of Agriculture in the Government of India. He is president of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), which he founded in 1999, after separating from the Indian National Congress. He leads the NCP delegation in the Rajya Sabha, the upper chamber of the Indian parliament. He is the chairperson of Maha Vikas Aghadi. Pawar comes from Baramati of Maharashtra. He is the patriarch of one of Maharashtra's most influential political families and a prominent face in Maharashtra politics. Ganpatrao Deshmukh
Ganpatrao Deshmukh (10 August 1927 – 30 July 2021) was an Indian politician. He was in office for 54 years. He was called "Abasaheb" by the people with love and affection. He was also called "Bhai" by peasants and workers. Biography He was the leader of Peasants and Workers Party of India (PWP). He is the longest serving member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly have been elected 11 times, during the last 54 years, from Sangola in Solapur district. Deshmukh also briefly served as a minister in the First Sharad Pawar ministry in 1978, and later in 1999, when PWP supported the Congress-NCP alliance. Deshmukh was first elected to the State Assembly in the 1962 elections, and since then won every election, except for the 1972 and 1995 elections. Sangameshwar Taluka is a taluka in Ratnagiri subdivision of Ratnagiri district in the Indian state of Maharashtra. The headquarters for the taluka is the town of Devrukh.The headquarters was moved from the village of Sangameshwar to Devrukh in 1878. In Sangameshwar the two rivers Sonavi and Shastri flow together. The meaning of Sangama in Marathi (and most Indian languages) is "confluence," and so the name "Sangameshwar". Sadanand Varde
Sadanand Varde (November 6, 1925 – January 29, 2007) was an Indian socialist leader, politician, and freedom fighter from Maharashtra. He served as the Education Minister of Maharashtra State in the government led by Sharad Pawar's Progressive Democratic Front in 1978. Varde was elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from the Bandra constituency as a member of the Samajwadi Party during the same year. Career Varde started his career as a professor of economics at R. D. National College in Bandra. Actively involved in the Quit India movement as a college student, he faced imprisonment for 18 months during the 1942 Quit India movement.
