First Reformed Church (Orange City, Iowa)
First Reformed Church (Orange City), founded in 1871, is an active church in the Kingdom Network located in Orange City, Iowa. History Early years First Reformed Church (FRC) was organized on May 6, 1871 in order to serve the Dutch people, Dutch Settlers who began arriving in Orange City in 1870. As a result of population growth and the rising cost of land, a large group of Hollanders moved 300 miles northwest from Pella, IA. As people of deep and abiding religious faith, the establishment of a Christian church was one of the community's first priorities. Initial services were led by literate lay people (mostly farmers), who would read the Bible, pray, sing Psalms, and possibly read from a book of sermons. As the community of Dutch settlers continued to grow, the need for an ordained minister became readily apparent – there was no one available to perform baptisms or administer the Eucharist. The First Reformed Church, historically known as the Dutch Reformed Church, is located in New Brunswick, New Jersey on 160 Neilson Street. The First Reformed Church, also known as First Church in Albany or North Dutch Church, is located at North Pearl (New York State Route 32) and Orange streets in Albany, New York, United States. It is a member congregation of the Reformed Church in America. The building was designed by Philip Hooker and built in the period of 1797–1799. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. It was established in 1642 to serve the Dutch inhabitants of Fort Orange, the adjacent village of Beverwyck, and the patroonship of Rensselaerswyck in general. It is the second oldest congregation in the state of New York, and the oldest upstate. The current church, designed by Philip Hooker, is the fourth building and the oldest church in Albany. The Old First Reformed Church in Brooklyn, New York– officially known as The Reformed Dutch Church of the Town of Breukelen – is a historic Dutch Reformed church at 126 7th Avenue on the corner of Carroll Street in the Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York, New York. The congregation was founded in 1654 by decree of Governor Pieter Stuyvesant, as one of three "collegiate churches." First Reformed Church, also known as Piermont Reformed Church and First Protestant Dutch Church of Piermont, is a historic Reformed Church in America church located at Piermont, Rockland County, New York. It was built in 1946, and is a one-story, three-bay by four-bay, Wren-Gibbs Colonial Revival style church. It features a central square tower topped by a hexagonal steeple. First Reformed Church of Schenectady is located at 8 North Church Street in the Historic Stockade District of Schenectady, New York and is a member of the Reformed Church in America. The church was first organized in 1680 by Dutch settlers and was the first church established in the Mohawk Valley. The church, along with the Stockade District were added to the List of National Historic Landmarks in New York, National Register of Historic Places in 1973 and again with a boundary increase in 1984 (#73001267). History The first Dutch Reformed church in Schenectady was built about 1682 on the public square of the stockade at what is now known as the intersection of State, Church, and Railroad Streets. First Reformed Church, also known as the First Reformed United Church of Christ, is a historic Reformed church located at 22 E. Center Street in Lexington, Davidson County, North Carolina. It was designed by architect Herbert B. Hunter and built in 1927–1928. It is a steel frame building sheathed in tapestry brick, with a Late Gothic Revival style interior.
