First Gentleman () or First Lady () of Slovenia is the title attributed to the husband, wife, or domestic partner of the president of Slovenia. There has been one first gentleman of Slovenia so far – Aleš Musar, whose wife is President Nataša Pirc Musar since 22 December 2022. Benefits By law, the spouses or domestic partners of the president of Slovenia, known as the First Lady or First Gentleman, have equal rights and obligations within the position, whether they are married to the president or not. This equality was codified by an amendment to the Marriage and Family Relations Act, which stipulates that marriage and cohabitation are considered equal by the government. The spouse or partner of the president of Slovenia is entitled to paid leave from work for official functions and other responsibilities. The president of Slovenia, officially the president of the Republic of Slovenia ( sl, Predsednik Republike Slovenije), is the head of state of the Republic of Slovenia. The position was established on 23 December 1991 when the National Assembly (Slovenia), National Assembly passed a new Constitution of Slovenia, constitution as a result of independence from the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. Borut Pahor (; born 2 November 1963) is a Slovenian politician who served as President of Slovenia from 2012 to 2022. He previously served as Prime Minister of Slovenia from November 2008 to February 2012. Danilo Türk (; born 19 February 1952) is a Slovenian diplomat, professor of international law, human rights expert, and political figure who served as President of Slovenia from 2007 to 2012. Barbara Miklič Türk ( Miklič, born 1948) is a Slovenian politician, who was First Lady of Slovenia from 2007 to 2012, when her husband Danilo Türk was President. Personal life Miklič was born in 1948 in Ljubljana, Socialist Republic of Slovenia (now the capital of the Republic of Slovenia). Her father was a miner and geophysical engineer, and her mother was a microbiologist. During her teenage years, she lived with her family in Sudan, and went to a Catholic school there.
