''First Four EPs'' is the debut studio album by the band Off! which features former Black Flag and Circle Jerks singer Keith Morris. The four 7-inch EP vinyl box set collection was released on December 14, 2010, by Vice Records, the CD version followed on February 15, 2011, and both contain artwork by Raymond Pettibon. Off! (band)
Off! (stylized as OFF!) is an American hardcore punk supergroup, formed in Los Angeles, California in late 2009 by Circle Jerks/ Black Flag singer Keith Morris, Burning Brides frontman Dimitri Coats, Redd Kross bassist Steven Shane McDonald, and Rocket From The Crypt/Hot Snakes drummer Mario Rubalcaba. In 2021, it was announced that the line-up changed, with McDonald and Rubalcaba replaced by Autry Fulbright II and Justin Brown, respectively. The band are known for playing short, intense punk songs, with ''Pitchfork'' describing the band as "a vital blast of classic hardcore." History The idea to form the band came after Coats had worked as producer on a prospective Circle Jerks album which ultimately fell apart. Circle Jerks
Circle Jerks (stylized as Ciʀcle JƎʀᴋs) are an American hardcore punk band, formed in 1979 in Los Angeles, California. The group was founded by former Black Flag vocalist Keith Morris and Redd Kross guitarist Greg Hetson. To date, Circle Jerks have released six studio albums, one compilation, a live album and a live DVD. Their debut album, ''Group Sex'' (1980), is considered a landmark of the hardcore genre. The band has broken up and re-formed several times, sometimes with different bassists and/or drummers. They disbanded for the first time after the release of their fifth album '' VI'' (1987), allowing Hetson to focus on Bad Religion (which he joined in 1984 and stayed with until 2013) full-time. Andrew Lynch (singer-songwriter)
Andrew Lynch (born in Soldotna, Alaska) is a singer-songwriter, trumpeter, keyboard player, audio engineer, and music producer, who lives in Los Angeles, California. In 2004, he released his debut album ''Samaritopia'' with the help of Pat Boone and Bill Hudson. The album features Sebastian Steinberg and The Section Quartet, who he occasionally performs with at Largo. He is a former band member of Los Angeles indie rock band The Black Pine. In the fall of 2007, Lynch toured with Earlimart in support of their record Mentor Tormentor, playing keyboards and trumpet. In late 2007, he continued working with the band, playing horns on, engineering, and producing their 2008 record, Hymn and Her. Mario Rubalcaba
Mario Rubalcaba (also known by the pseudonym Ruby Mars) is an American drummer from San Diego, notable as a member of numerous rock bands including Clikatat Ikatowi, Thingy, Rocket from the Crypt, Hot Snakes, Earthless, the Sultans, and Off! He has also played on albums by The Black Heart Procession and Pinback and was formerly a professional skateboarder. Skateboarding career In the late 1980s and early 1990s Rubalcaba was a professional skateboarder, skating for Team Alva. Though he no longer skates professionally, he does work at Black Box, a skateboarding distribution company and skate park in San Diego. Musical career Rubalcaba's drumming career began in 1990 with the San Diego post-hardcore band 411. Jeffrey Lee Pierce (June 27, 1958 – March 31, 1996) was an American singer, songwriter, guitarist, and author. Greg Hetson
Greg Hetson (born June 29, 1961) is an American guitarist. He was born in Brooklyn, New York and has lived in the Los Angeles area since he was 2 years old. Active since 1979, Hetson is best known as the guitarist for the influential hardcore punk bands Redd Kross, Circle Jerks and Bad Religion. He is known for his high energy stage antics which people have coined the term "The Hetson Leap ". Steven Shane McDonald
Steven Shane "Steve" McDonald (born May 24, 1967) is an American rock musician, best known as the bass guitarist in the Los Angeles alternative rock/power pop band Redd Kross. He is a founding member of the hardcore punk band Off! – serving as a member from 2009 to 2021 – as well as the current bassist for the Melvins. McDonald has appeared in numerous film projects with his older brother Jeff McDonald, including the 1984 film '' Desperate Teenage Lovedolls'' and its sequel '' Lovedolls Superstar''; and the 1990 film ''Spirit of '76''. Raymond Pettibon
Raymond Pettibon (born Raymond Ginn, June 16, 1957) is an American artist who lives and works in New York City. Pettibon came to prominence in the early 1980s in the southern California punk rock scene, creating posters and album art mainly for groups on SST Records, owned and operated by his older brother, Greg Ginn. He has subsequently become widely recognized in the fine art world for using American iconography variously pulled from literature, art history, philosophy, and religion to politics, sport, and sexuality. Keith Morris (born September 18, 1955) is an American singer and songwriter known for his role as frontman of the hardcore punk bands Black Flag, Circle Jerks, and Off!. Born and raised in Hermosa Beach, California, he formed Black Flag at the age of 21 with guitarist Greg Ginn and performed on the band's 1979 debut EP ''Nervous Breakdown''. Black Flag (band)
Black Flag is an American punk rock band formed in 1976 in Hermosa Beach, California. Initially called Panic, the band was established by Greg Ginn, the guitarist, primary songwriter, and sole continuous member through multiple personnel changes in the band. They are widely considered to be one of the first hardcore punk bands, as well as one of the pioneers of After breaking up in 1986, Black Flag reunited in 2003 and again in 2013. Hardcore Punk
Hardcore punk (also known as simply hardcore) is a punk rock music genre and subculture that originated in the late 1970s. It is generally faster, harder, and more aggressive than other forms of punk rock.
