"Fireworks" is a song by British post-punk band Siouxsie and the Banshees, released as a stand-alone single in 1982 by record label Polydor in between the albums '' Juju'' (1981) and '' A Kiss in the Dreamhouse'' (1982). History and release "Fireworks" was released on 21 May 1982 by Polydor Records. It peaked at number 22 in the UK Singles Chart. Recorded in spring 1982, it was the first collaboration of the Banshees with sound engineer Mike Hedges, who would become their co-producer on several records. Hedges had previously worked with Siouxsie and Budgie on the Creatures' debut EP, 1981's '' Wild Things''. "Fireworks" was the first song for which the group incorporated strings arrangements. Siouxsie and the Banshees were a British rock band formed in London in 1976 by vocalist Siouxsie Sioux and bass guitarist Steven Severin. Mike Hedges (born 1953) is a British audio producer/engineer best known for his work with The Cure, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and Manic Street Preachers. During his career, Hedges has worked with an eclectic roster of artists ranging from rock and pop acts such as U2, Dido, Travis, Texas, The Beautiful South, and Everything but the Girl, to cult-indie band The Cooper Temple Clause and classically oriented projects, The Priests and Sarah Brightman. Susan Janet Ballion (born 27 May 1957), known professionally as Siouxsie Sioux, is an English singer, songwriter, musician and record producer. She was the lead singer of the rock band Siouxsie and the Banshees (1976–1996). Nigel Gray (1947 – 30 July 2016) was an English record producer. His album credits include ''Outlandos d'Amour'' (1978), ''Reggatta de Blanc'' (1979), and ''Zenyatta Mondatta'' (1980) for the Police, ''Kaleidoscope'' (1980) and '' Juju'' (1981) for Siouxsie and the Banshees, as well as five albums for Godley & Creme. ''Wild Things'' is the first release by British duo the Creatures (singer Siouxsie Sioux and drummer Budgie). It was issued on 25 September 1981 by Polydor Records as two 7" single records in a "double-album" style card cover, and is usually referred to as an EP. It peaked on the UK Singles Chart at No. 24, and the pair performed "Mad Eyed Screamer" on ''Top of the Pops''. The EP was entirely remastered in 1997 and reissued as part of the ''A Bestiary Of'' CD compilation. History The initial idea for ''Wild Things'', and the Creatures, came about during the rehearsal sessions for the Siouxsie and the Banshees album '' Juju''. The Creatures were an English band formed in 1981 by vocalist Siouxsie Sioux and drummer Budgie (musician), Budgie of the group Siouxsie and the Banshees.
