A nickname is a substitute for the proper name of a familiar person, place or thing. James "Fireball" Colzie (June 12, 1920 – March 23, 2010) was a Negro league baseball pitcher. He played mostly for the Indianapolis Clowns and the Atlanta Black Crackers. He served in the United States Army during World War II. On July 20, 1947, the Clowns' team bus was struck by a car, resulting in Colzie dislocating his knee. Colzie sued the driver of the car and was awarded $4,000. Fireball Roberts
Edward Glenn "Fireball" Roberts Jr. (January 20, 1929July 2, 1964) was an American stock car racer. Background Roberts was born in Tavares, Florida, and raised in Apopka, Florida, where he was interested in both auto racing and baseball. He was a pitcher for the Zellwood Mud Hens, an American Legion baseball team, where he earned the nickname, "Fireball" because of his fastball. He enlisted with the United States Army Air Corps in 1945, but was discharged after basic training because of his asthma. Racing career He attended the University of Florida and raced on dirt tracks on weekends. In 1947, at the age of eighteen, he raced on the Daytona Beach Road Course at Daytona, for the first time. He won a 150-mile race at Daytona Beach the following year. Roberts also competed in local stock and modified races at Florida tracks such as Seminole Speedway. Joshua Emile Doherty Urbiztondo (born February 27, 1983) is a Filipino-American former professional basketball player. He last played for the San Miguel Alab Pilipinas of the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL). Amateur career Urbiztondo played for Fresno-Pacific University in his final years of college. It was there where he gained a reputation as a scorer. In the summer of 2008, Urbiztondo left the States to play in the PBA D-League. There, he led his team to a championship victory, got named to the "Top Five Mythical Team", was named Top Defensive Player, was the consensus number one performer, and was poised to be a high pick in the upcoming PBA Draft. Frederick Charles "Fireball" Wenz (August 26, 1941 – October 6, 2020) was a middle relief pitcher in Major League Baseball who played from 1968 through 1970 for the Boston Red Sox (1968–69) and Philadelphia Phillies (1970). Listed at , , he batted and threw right-handed. Wenz was signed as an amateur free agent by the San Francisco Giants out of Somerville High School in 1959. He earned his nickname as a minor leaguer when he struck out more than one batter per inning during his time in the Red Sox' farm system. In 31 relief appearances, Wenz posted a 3–0 record with a 4.68 ERA and one save, giving up 22 runs (one unearned) on 36 hits and 25 walks while striking out 38 in 42 innings of work.
