Finnish Aviation Academy Ltd ( fi, Suomen Ilmailuopisto Oy, FINAA for short) is an aviation school based in Pori, Finland. It is located near the Pori Airport. The academy is a private school owned by the state of Finland, the national airline Finnair and the city of Pori. History Finnish Aviation Academy was established 1964 in Helsinki by Finnair. It was transferred to Kuopio in 1976 and later in 1985 to Pori as the Satakunta Air Command was moved to Tampere–Pirkkala Airport. Academy was originally known as Finnair Aviation Academy and renamed in 2002. During 2009-2011 academy trained also helicopter pilots to fill the need for new pilots in Finland. Reims Aviation Industries was a French aircraft manufacturer located in the city of Reims, most recently producing the F406 Caravan II. Reims Aviation was a wholly owned subsidiary of GECI Aviation. History Max Holste, the company founder, built his first aircraft in 1931, a light two-seater aircraft called the SHB1. In 1946, he started his own aircraft company, Avions Max Holste, in downtown Reims. In the 1950s, two new models were designed: the MH.1521 Broussard in 1950 and the MH.260 Super Broussard in 1959. In 1960, a cooperative agreement was signed with Cessna to produce light aircraft for the European market. Hannu Kalevi Manninen (born 17 April 1978 in Rovaniemi) is a Finnish nordic combined athlete. Debuting at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer at the age of 15, he took his first medal three years later at the age of 18 when he won silver in the 4 × 5 km team event at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships. At the 2002 Winter Olympics, he won a gold medal in the 4 × 5 km team event at the age of 23. It was designed in 1987 by Walter Extra, a German aerobatic pilot, and built by Extra Flugzeugbau. The Embraer EMB-500 Phenom 100 is a light business jet designed and produced by the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer. The project was announced in November 2005. On 26 July 2007, the aircraft made its first flight. It was awarded a type certificate in December 2008, and the first example was delivered the same month. It has been stretched into the larger Embraer Phenom 300. The very light jet can transport four to seven passengers, and is powered by two rear-mounted Pratt & Whitney Canada PW600 turbofans. Satakunta Air Command
The Satakunta Air Command ( fi, Satakunnan Lennosto, abbr. ''SatLsto''; sv, Satakunta flygflottilj) is a peace-time Finnish Air Force unit. Its headquarters is not located in the Satakunta, present-day province of Satakunta, but in Satakunta (historical province), historical Satakunta and in the present-day province of Pirkanmaa, at the Tampere-Pirkkala Airport in Pirkkala.
