Finland In The Eurovision Song Contest 2022
Finland participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin, Italy, with the song "Jezebel" written by Lauri Ylönen and Desmond Child, and performed by The Rasmus. The Finnish broadcaster (Yle) organised the national final ''2022'' in order to select the Finnish entry for the contest. Seven entries were selected to compete in the national final on 26 February 2022, where the combination of votes from seven international jury groups and votes from the public selected the winner. Finland was drawn to compete in the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest which took place on 12 May 2022. Performing during the show in position 1, "Jezebel" was announced among the top 10 entries of the second semi-final and hence qualified to compete in the final. In the final, Finland placed 21st with 38 points. It was later revealed that the country placed 7th in the semi-final with 162 points. Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu
(; abbreviated UMK; en, italics=yes, Contest for New Music) is an annual music contest organised by the Finnish public broadcaster Yle. UMK began in 2012 as the new format for the Eurovision Song Contest, replacing the original Finnish Eurovision selection ''Suomen euroviisukarsinta'' which had been held since 1961. Bess (singer)
Essi Miia Marianna Launimo (born 1993), known professionally as Bess (stylized in all caps), is a Finnish singer. She combines pop, electro and house in her music. Bess makes music together with her producer Nopsajalka. Bess has a double degree in hairdressing and has also studied as a professional musician at the Pop & Jazz Conservatory in Oulunkylä, Helsinki. Bess' debut singles were released in 2017, with the track "Tempo" being particularly successful. At its peak, it ranked third on the official download list in Finland and 13th on the singles list. It has been listened to more than 10 million times, which is enough to justify a double platinum record. In total, Bess' music has already been listened to more than 55 million times. Bess' self-titled debut album was released in November 2019, surpassing the number of listens required for a gold record even before its release. Yle Radio Suomi is a radio channel owned and operated by Finland's national public service broadcaster Yleisradio (Yle). The station's main focus is on music and sport, but it carries a variety of other programmes, including news and phone-ins, as well as up to eight hours a day of regional programming on weekdays (six hours on Saturdays).
