Finland competed at the 1920 Summer Olympics in Antwerp, Belgium for the first time as a fully independent state. Vilho Immanuel Tuulos
Vilho "Ville" Immanuel Tuulos (26 March 1895 – 2 September 1967) was a Finnish triple jumper and long jumper. He won a gold medal in the triple jump at the 1920 Summer Olympics in Antwerp. The 14.50 meter jumps he made during the qualifying round was counted for the main event and were enough for the win. Tuulos also won bronze medals at the 1924 and 1928 Olympics. In the long jump, his best result was a fourth place at the 1924 Olympics. Yrjö Eliel Kolho (née Saxberg, 23 April 1888 – 13 February 1969) was a Finnish sport shooter who competed in the 1920 Summer Olympics. He was born in Keuruu and died in Vilppula. He changed his name in 1905. In 1920 he won the silver medal as member of the Finnish team in the team running deer, single shots event and the bronze medal in the team running deer, double shots competition. Urho Pellervo Peltonen
Urho Pellervo Peltonen (15 January 1893 – 7 January 1951) was a Finland, Finnish athlete who competed mainly in the javelin throw. He competed for Finland in the 1912 Summer Olympics held in Stockholm, Sweden, in both the regular and Athletics at the 1912 Summer Olympics – Men's two handed javelin throw, two-handed javelin throw, a one-time Olympic event in which the total was counted as a sum of best throws with the right hand and with the left hand. Peltonen won a bronze medal in the latter event behind fellow Finns Julius Saaristo and Väinö Siikaniemi and one place ahead of Swede Eric Lemming, who had won the one hand competition. Armas Rudolf Taipale
Armas Rudolf Taipale (27 July 1890 – 9 November 1976) was a Finland, Finnish Athletics (sport), athlete. He competed at the 1912 Summer Olympics and won gold medals in two discus throw events, conventional and two-handed, where the total was counted as a sum of best throws with a left hand and with a right hand. After World War I he won a silver medal in the conventional discus throw at the 1920 Olympics and finished tenth in the shot put. At the 1924 Olympics he competed only in the discus throw and finished in 12th place. Taipale set two unofficial world records in the discus. Domestically Taipale started competing in 1908 and won three Finnish titles in the discus throw and two in the shot put. In 1914 he was British champion both in the shot put and discus throw. Oskar David Friman
Oskar David "Oskari" Friman (27 January 1893 – 19 October 1933) was a Greco-Roman wrestler from Finland. He won gold medals in lightweight categories at the 1920 and 1924 Olympics and 1921 World Championships. Nationally he collected eleven Finnish titles, in 1915-1924 and 1928. Friman took up wrestling in 1908, and by 1915 became one of the best Finnish lightweight wrestlers, together with his clubmate Emil Väre. Because of World War I, he started competing internationally only at the 1920 Olympics, where he dropped to featherweight to avoid meeting Väre. Väre retired soon after that, and Friman returned to lightweight. Eino Aukusti Leino
Eino Aukusti Leino (7 April 1891 – 30 November 1986) was a Finland, Finnish freestyle wrestling, freestyle wrestler. He competed at the 1920, 1924, 1928 and 1932 Olympics and won a medal each time, including a gold in 1920. Leino started as a diver and association football goalkeeper before changing to wrestling. In late 1914 he immigrated to the United States, and therefore did not compete at Finnish, European and world championships until 1930s, when he returned to Finland. He won the American AAU Championships in 1920 and 1923 and placed second in Finnish championships in 1936. Leino was a carpenter by profession, and later in 1949–52 also worked as a sports functionary in Finland. Kaarlo Johan Jalmari "Kalle" Anttila (30 August 1887 – 10 October 1949) was a Finland, Finnish wrestler. He won Olympic gold medals in the freestyle lightweight category in 1920 and in the Greco-Roman featherweight division in 1924. He also won world titles in the Greco-Roman featherweight in 1921 and 1922. Anttila was the Finnish champion in Greco-Roman wrestling in 1918–20 and 1929 and in freestyle wrestling in 1924 and 1929. He was born and raised in Finland In 1887, immigrated to Canada at the age of 4 where he was raised to work hard on a family farm. He died in 1954 and was buried in Sudbury.
