Finite Automata (band)
Finite Automata is an American dark electronic and Electro-industrial, electro industrial music group from Atlanta, Georgia. Originally formed in Pensacola, Florida in 2006, they have been based out of Atlanta, Georgia since 2013 and currently consist of vocalist, producer, and lyricist Mod Eschar, keyboardist Scott Storey, and guitarist Timothy Miller. They are known for their deep layered sound, frequent experimental live use of sound making devices such as radios and tapedecks, and their highly politically charged, confrontational, and theatrical stage performances. The group's name stems from the computer science concept of Finite State Machines, used as a metaphor for the predictability of human behavior. The band cites 1980s and 1990s electro-industrial groups Skinny Puppy, Front Line Assembly, and Project Pitchfork as their primary influences. Industrial Rock
Industrial rock is a fusion genre that fuses industrial music and rock music. It initially originated in the 1970s, and drew influence from early experimental and industrial acts such as Cromagnon, Throbbing Gristle, Einstürzende Neubauten and Chrome. Industrial rock became more prominent in the 1980s with the success of artists such as Killing Joke, Swans, and partially Skinny Puppy, and later spawned the offshoot genre known as industrial metal. Animotion
Animotion is an American synth-pop band from Los Angeles, California, best known for the songs " Obsession", "Let Him Go", "I Engineer", and " Room to Move". Formed in 1983 from the remnants of a retro science-fiction band called Red Zone, they signed a record deal with Mercury Records in 1984 and released four studio albums. History Formation and rise (1983–1986) Animotion was founded by four former members of Los Angeles-based band Red Zone and the lead singer of the Billy Bond band. Both Red Zone and the Billy Bond Band would play at the popular music venue Madame Wong's and knew of each other. A manager hearing Red Zone were considering breaking up suggested Billy Bond Band vocalist Bill Wadhams should look into working with them, and particularly their vocalist Astrid Plane. Obsession (Animotion Song)
"Obsession" is a 1983 song covered in 1984 by the group Animotion. The song hit number six in the United States, and number five in the United Kingdom in early 1985, helped by a distinctive video that MTV played frequently. "Obsession" also hit the Top 40 on the US dance chart, twice: once in 1984; then in 1986, as a double-sided hit, along with the track "I Engineer". Background Cowriter Michael Des Barres was recovering from a heroin addiction in 1983, so "Obsession" was a familiar word to him. But although drugs were familiar territory to him, he wanted to write about something that would appeal to a much wider audience, like love. The line, "Like a butterfly, a wild butterfly, I will collect you and capture you" was inspired by ''The Collector'', a movie Des Barres had watched about a man who kidnapped a beautiful woman. ''Here Won No One'' is the first EP release by American electro-industrial band Finite Automata. It was released on November 3, 2011 by Beyond Therapy Records in digital format and compact disc. The EP's title is a play on the swine flu designation H1N1, The title track is heavily critical of the American healthcare system, in particular, for-profit healthcare. The EP was originally self recorded and released and then re-issued through the band's label Beyond Therapy Records. Although praised by many as a "throwback" to early electro-industrial music, it was criticized for its lack of production quality due to its self-released nature. Dismantled
Dismantled (born Gary Zon) is an electronic music artist from the United States. History Dismantled is the product of an experiment that began in late 2000 by Gary Zon, who was attempting to create something similar to Front Line Assembly's sound. After overwhelming positive feedback from online listeners, Gary began further sonic construction by drawing influences from television, movies, and music as well as adding vocals into the mix. The resulting sound was a unique blend of very melodic, yet complex mix of layered electro-industrial merged with intelligent dance music elements. This dark, brooding, futuristic ensemble yielded more and more positive feedback, while comparing it to Front Line Assembly, Haujobb, Wumpscut and Velvet Acid Christ. God Module
God Module is an American dark electronic band founded in 1999 from Orlando, Florida. Since 2006 they have been based out of Washington state. God Module is currently signed to Metropolis Records. History God Module was formed in 1999 by Jasyn Bangert and Andrew Ramirez. The band name was derived from an episode of The X-Files that dramatized a theory about a part of the human brain rumored to be responsible for mankind's belief in religion and the concept of God. The band's first album, ''Artificial'', was released by Inception Records in 2000. God Module has toured the US and North America frequently, touring almost yearly in the States since 2010, and have played festivals and short tours in Europe. "Second Circle" is a song by American electro-industrial band Finite Automata. It was released on May 1, 2015 by the band as a self-release in digital format, and licensed to Beyond Therapy Records. The track is a reference to the ''Second Circle'' of Hell according to ''Dante's Inferno'', and deals with the concept of perversion and blind lust as a means of control. Originally intended as the first single off of the band's follow up album to their 2012 release, ''Recurse'', it is now considered a stand alone release by the band. The record was re-released on Latex Records in 2016 following Beyond Therapy Records' dissolution.
