Fingerbobs
''Fingerbobs'' is a British children's television programme made by Q3 for the BBC. The first episode was broadcast on 14 February 1972 on BBC1 as part of ''Watch with Mother''. The show was created by Joanne and Michael Cole, who also created Bod. Only thirteen episodes were ever made and were regularly repeated until December 1984. Presented by mime artist "Yoffy" (played by Canadian actor Rick Jones), each ten-minute episode told a story centred on a paper finger puppet animal and usually involved collecting various items (such as pebbles or feathers) to make up another object at the end. The finger puppets, each of whom had their own song, included: * Fingermouse – a mouse, consisting of a grey paper cone head with paper ears and whiskers with a grey glove for the body ("Fingermouse, Fingermouse/I am a sort of wondermouse"). Michael Cole (writer)
Michael Cole (17 March 1933 – 4 August 2001) was a British writer. He created a number of children's programmes from the 1970s to the 1990s, including ''Alphabet Castle'', ''Heads and Tails (TV series), Heads and Tails'' and ''Ragtime (TV series), Ragtime'', for which he won a Society of Film and Television Award (later known as a British Academy of Film and Television Arts, BAFTA) for Best Children's Programme. Together with his wife Joanne Cole, he created ''Bod (TV series), Bod'', originally published as four books in 1965 and made into a TV show in the 1970s, as well as ''Fingerbobs'' and ''Gran (TV series), Gran''. Joanne Cole
Joanne Cole (6 June 1934 – 7 August 1985) was a British artist and illustrator. She most notably produced numerous children's books in the 1960s through to the 1980s. She also created artwork and puppets for British TV children's programmes. Together with husband Michael Cole they created '' Bod''. Bod originally appeared as four books, published in the UK by Methuen in 1965 and later released in France and the United States. The Coles collaborated on other children books including ''Wet Albert'' (1967) about a boy followed around by a rain cloud with crayon drawings by Cole and a series of four ''Kate and Sam'' books (1971) about the over-imaginative ideas of a young brother and sister. She also illustrated seven Jill Tomlinson books, including ''The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark'' (1973). Frederick Joseph Jones (7 February 1937 – 7 October 2021) was a Canadian-born television presenter and folk musician, best known for his work in BBC children's television programmes '' Play School'' (1964–1973) and ''Fingerbobs'' in 1972. Life and career Jones was born on 7 February 1937, in London, Ontario, Canada. His father was Frederick Jones, who served in the Canadian Army, and his wife Agnes (née Hanson), who had both emigrated from Britain. He had an older sister, Shirlie, who died in 2020 from COVID-19. Their cousin Bud, whose parents had died, was also raised in the family. He moved to the UK at the age of 18 to study at the Webber Douglas School of Singing and Dramatic Art. ''Fingermouse'' is a British children's television programme created by Michael Cole for the BBC in 1985. It is a spin-off of the earlier series ''Fingerbobs''. The first episode was broadcast on 25 September 1985 on BBC1. The eponymous star was a paper finger puppet in the form of a mouse, who would play various musical instruments with the help of Music Man, played by Iain Lauchlan. ''Watch with Mother'' was a cycle of children's programmes created by Freda Lingstrom and Maria Bird. Broadcast by BBC Television from 1952 until 1975, it was the first BBC television series aimed specifically at pre-school children, a development of BBC radio's equivalent ''Listen with Mother'', which had begun two years earlier. In accordance with its intended target audience of pre-school children viewing with their mothers, ''Watch with Mother'' was initially broadcast between 3:45 pm and 4:00 pm, post-afternoon nap and before the older children came home from school. Lostprophets
Lostprophets (stylised as lostprophets) were a Welsh rock band from Pontypridd, formed in 1997 by singer and lyricist Ian Watkins and guitarist Lee Gaze. The band was founded after their former band Fleshbind broke up. They later recruited Mike Lewis (guitars) and Mike Chiplin on drums.
