Financial Fraud Action UK
Financial Fraud Action UK (FFA UK) is the name the financial services industry uses to coordinate its fraud prevention activities. FFA UK is sponsored by the UK Cards Association for its attempts to prevent fraud on credit and debit cards and the Fraud Control Steering Group on non-cards fraud matters. They also work with the Cheque & Credit Clearing Company (C&CCC) to eliminate credit clearing and cheque fraud. The Fraud Control Steering Group is an unincorporated group of retail banking providers in the UK. In addition to devising and implementing policies, the association ensures a united industry approach to combating payment, cheque and lending fraud. Activity Financial Fraud Action UK (FFA UK) spearheads the collective fight against fraud in the UK payments industry. Cheque And Credit Clearing Company
The Cheque and Credit Clearing Company Limited (C&CCC) is a UK membership-based industry body whose 11 members are the UK clearing banks. The company has managed the cheque clearing system in England and Wales since 1985, in all of Great Britain since 1996 when it took over responsibility for managing the Scottish cheque clearing as well, and in the whole of the United Kingdom since the introduction of the Image Clearing System in 2019. As well as clearing cheques, the system processes the following forms of payment: banker's drafts, building society cheques, postal orders, warrants, government payable orders and traveller's cheques. The company also manages the systems for the clearing of paper bank giro credits (the credit clearing). The Specialist, Organised & Economic Crime Command is a unit within the Gangs and Organised Crime group of Specialist Crime & Operations within London's Metropolitan Police Service. The unit's main responsibility is to both investigate and take steps to prevent fraud, along with a wide range of other fraudulent crimes which require specialist knowledge and training to investigate. The unit was previously known as the Fraud Squad, or by its previous Specialist Operations designation, SO6.
