Filiz Husmenova
Filiz Hyusmenova ( bg, Филиз Хюсменова; born 10 June 1966 in Silistra, Bulgaria) is a Bulgarian politician of Bulgarian-Turkish descent who served as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) from 2007 until 2019. She is a member of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms, part of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe. Political career Career in national politics From 2003 until 2005, Hyusmenova served as Minister without portfolio in the government of Prime Minister Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. Member of the European Parliament, 2007–2019 Hyusmenova became an Member of the European Parliament on 1 January 2007 with the accession of Bulgaria to the European Union. Johannes Cornelis "Hans" van Baalen (17 June 1960 – 29 April 2021) was a Dutch politician of the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD) who served as a Member of the European Parliament and Leader of the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy in the European Parliament from 2009 until 2019. Euronest Parliamentary Assembly
The Euronest Parliamentary Assembly is the inter-parliamentary forum in which members of the European Parliament and the national parliaments of Ukraine, Moldova, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia participate and forge closer political and economic ties with the European Union. It was established in 2011 by the European Commission as a component of the Eastern Partnership. After the elections in Belarus in 2010 were declared as flawed by the OSCE, the membership of Belarus in Euronest was automatically suspended. Belarus is welcome to re-join the Assembly once political requirements have been fulfilled. In 2015, Azerbaijan's membership was suspended due to the European Union's criticism of human rights abuses by the government. In September 2016, it was announced that Azerbaijan would take the necessary steps towards restoring ties.
