Filipa Roseta
Filipa Maria Salema Roseta Vaz Monteiro (9 March 1973) is a Portuguese politician and MP. Between 2019 and 2021, she was a Member of the Portuguese Parliament in the XIV session, elected by the Portuguese Social Democratic Party. She is a university Professor and an Architect. She is the daughter of two former politicians, Pedro Roseta, a former MP and former Portuguese Minister of Culture and Helena Roseta, also a former MP, first for the Social Democratic Party, where she had prominent roles and as an Independent MP, elected for the Portuguese Socialist Party (PS). On 25 October 2021, Roseta announced that she decided to suspend her mandate as a Member of Parliament to become a full-time Executive Council Member in Lisbon for the term 2021–2025. Social Democratic Party (Portugal)
The Social Democratic Party ( pt, Partido Social Democrata, ; PSD) is a liberal-conservative political party in Portugal. Commonly known by its colloquial initials PSD, on ballot papers its initials appear as its official form PPD/PSD, with the first three letters coming from the party's original name, the Democratic People's Party (, PPD). A party of the centre-right, the PSD is one of the two major parties in Portuguese politics, its rival being the Socialist Party (PS) on the centre-left. Helena Roseta
Helena Roseta (born 1947) is a Portuguese architect, specialising in improvements to poorer neighbourhoods, and a politician who has been a member of the Assembly of the Republic and President of the Assembly of Lisbon Municipality. Early life Maria Helena do Rego da Costa Salema Roseta was born in Lisbon on 23 December 1947. She grew up in a family of 7 siblings. A student with excellent grades, she studied at the Maria Amália Vaz de Carvalho secondary school and in 1964/65 was awarded a national prize given to the student with the best grades. After leaving school she went to the School of Fine Arts at the University of Lisbon, where she took a degree in architecture. In 1967, after floods that killed 500 people in the Lisbon region, she became involved with other students to support the flooded areas and publicize the facts, despite the censorship efforts of the authoritarian '' Estado Novo'' regime. Portuguese Socialist Party
The Portuguese Socialist Party ( pt, Partido Socialista Português) was a political party in Portugal. The party was founded in 1875. During its initial phase the party was heavily influenced by Proudhonism, and rejected revolutionary Marxism. The party suffered constant factional struggles. In 1919 the leftwing of the party broke away (that group would merge with anarcho-syndicalists to form the Portuguese Maximalist Federation, which became the Portuguese Communist Party). In general the Socialist Party lacked mass support, the trade union movement was led by anarchists and was not affiliated with the socialist International Federation of Trade Unions. Carlos Moedas
Carlos Manuel Félix Moedas (born 10 August 1970) is a Portuguese civil engineer, economist and politician of the Social Democratic Party (PSD). From 2014 until 2019, Moedas served as European Commissioner covering the portfolio of Research, Science and Innovation under the leadership of President Jean-Claude Juncker. Between 2011 and 2014 he served as Secretary of State in the XIX Constitutional Government of Portugal. In March 2021, Moedas announced his candidacy as Mayor of Lisbon in the 2021 local elections, and was elected on 26 September of the same year. Early life and education Moedas was born to a communist journalist and a seamstress in Beja, Alentejo, southern Portugal, in 1970.
