Fikret Emek
Fikret Emek (born 20 September 1963 in Emirdağ) is a retired soldier from the Special Forces Command ( tr, Özel Kuvvetler Komutanlığı, ÖKK); a special forces unit active in the Kurdish–Turkish conflict. He was one of the first people detained in the Ergenekon investigation; an investigation into a supposed neonationalist organization that allegedly planned to overthrow the Turkish government. The investigation started when 27 grenades allegedly belonging to him were discovered following a then anonymous tip-off. Biography Emek was born in Emirdağ. In 1985 he graduated from the Turkish Military Academy ( tr, Kara Harp Okulu). Later he joined the ÖKK, and retired in 2005. He lives close to his widowed mother in Eskişehir. Emirdağ
Emirdağ is a town and district of Afyonkarahisar Province in Turkey, between the city of Afyon and Eskişehir. The district covers an area of 2,009 km2, and the population (2014) is 38,269 of which 19,093 live in the town of Emirdağ itself. The mayor is Cengiz Pala ( AKP). The Emir Mountains rise steeply behind the town. The region is vulnerable to earthquakes. The weather is very cold in winter. Kurdistan Workers' Party
The Kurdistan Workers' Party or PKK is a Kurdish militant political organization and armed guerrilla movement, which historically operated throughout Kurdistan, but is now primarily based in the mountainous Kurdish-majority regions of southeastern Turkey and northern Iraq. Since 1984, the PKK has utilized asymmetric warfare in the Kurdish–Turkish conflict (with several ceasefires between 1993 and 2013–2015). Turkish Military Academy
The Turkish Military Academy ( tr, Kara Harp Okulu) is a four-year co-educational military academy and part of the National Defence University. It is located in the center of Ankara, Turkey. Its mission is to develop cadets mentally and physically for service as commissioned officers in the Turkish Army, and is the oldest of the academies of the Armed Forces (opened 1834).
