The Fiji Pro 2016 was an event of the World Surf League for 2016 World Surf League. This event was held from 07 to 19 June at Namotu, ( Tavarua, Fiji) and opposed by 36 surfers. The tournament was won by Gabriel Medina (BRA), who beat Matt Wilkinson Matthew Wilkinson is a British actor, playwright and director. Namotu
Namotu Island is one of the few hundreds of islands that make up the country of Fiji. It is in the southernmost part of the chain of islands called the Mamanuca Islands, which are just west of Nadi. Stuart Kennedy (surfer)
Stuart Robert Kennedy (born 31 May 1953) is a Scottish former footballer who played as a right-back for Falkirk and Aberdeen. He made eight appearances for the Scotland national team. Club career Kennedy was born in Grangemouth. He moved to Aberdeen in 1976 for £30,000 and featured prominently in Aberdeen's greatest period of success. A hard-working, skilful player, he won every major domestic honour in his time in the North-East, namely the League in 1979–80, the Scottish Cup in 1981–82, and the 1976–77 League Cup. Mick Fanning
Michael Eugene Fanning (born 13 June 1981) is an Australian professional surfer who was crowned champion of the Association of Surfing Professionals/World Surf League (ASP/WSL)'s World Tour in 2007, 2009 and 2013. In 2015, he survived a shark attack by what is suspected to be a great white shark during the J-Bay Open finals in Jeffreys Bay. Julian Wilson (surfer)
Julian Wilson (born 8 November 1988) is an Australian professional surfer who competes on the World Surf League Men's World Tour. Personal life Wilson was born and raised in Coolum Beach, Queensland. He is an ambassador for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Wilson's mother is a breast cancer survivor, and he was inspired to ride a pink board by a close family friend and international cricketer, Matthew Hayden, who plays with a pink bat for the corresponding cause. Kanoa Igarashi
Kanoa Igarashi (born October 1, 1997) is a Japanese American surfer who has competed professionally worldwide since 2012. In 2016, he was the youngest rookie on the World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour (CT), and had collected more Round One wins than any other surfer, finished 2nd place at the Pipeline event, and 20th place overall that year. His greatest career performance was in the 2022 WSL CT where he finished top 5 and got to compete on the final event of the year held in Trestles California.
