Figure Skating At The 2018 Winter Olympics – Qualification
The following is about the qualification rules and allocation of spots for the figure skating events at the 2018 Winter Olympics. Qualification system A total of 148 quota spots are available to athletes to compete at the games. A maximum of 18 athletes can be entered by a National Olympic Committee, with a maximum of 9 men or 9 women. A further ten team trophy quotas can be distributed to countries qualifying for the team event, but not the discipline itself. This means up to a maximum of 158 athletes can partake. If these additional ten quotas are not used, then the host (South Korea) may use them to qualify for each event, but may not qualify for the team event by use of these additional quotas. Figure skating at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games was held at the Gangneung Ice Arena in Gangneung, South Korea. The five events took place between 9 and 23 February 2018. Qualification A total of 148 quota spots were available to athletes to compete at the games. Each NOC could enter a maximum of 18 athletes, with a maximum of nine men and nine women. An additional six quota spots were made available for the team event. A further ten team trophy quotas (two in each discipline) were distributed to countries who qualified for the team event but not the discipline itself. Oberstdorf ( Low Alemannic: ''Oberschdorf'') is a municipality and skiing and hiking town in Germany, located in the Allgäu region of the Bavarian Alps. 2017–18 ISU Junior Grand Prix
The 2017–18 ISU Junior Grand Prix is the 21st season of a series of junior international competitions organized by the International Skating Union. It is the junior-level complement to the 2017–18 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating. Skaters competed for medals in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dance, as well as for qualifying points. The top six from each discipline met at the 2017–18 Junior Grand Prix Final, held together with the senior final. Competitions The locations of the JGP events change yearly. 2017 World Junior Figure Skating Championships
The 2017 World Junior Figure Skating Championships were held March 15–19, 2017 in Taipei City, Taiwan (Chinese Taipei). Commonly called "World Juniors" and "Junior Worlds", the event determined the World Junior champions in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. Pair champions Ekaterina Alexandrovskaya / Harley Windsor became the first skaters representing Australia to win gold at an ISU Figure Skating Championships. The United States received gold in two disciplines, with Vincent Zhou winning the men's singles title and Rachel Parsons / Michael Parsons taking the ice dancing title. The 2017 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships was an international figure skating competition in the 2016–17 figure skating season. It was held at the Gangneung Ice Arena in Gangneung, South Korea on February 16–19. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. The competition served as the figure skating test event for the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang. Qualification The competition was open to skaters from non-European member nations of the International Skating Union who reached the age of 15 before July 1, 2016. The 2017–18 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating was a series of invitational senior internationals which ran from October through December 2017. Laurence Fournier Beaudry (born July 18, 1992) is a Canadian ice dancer. Competing for Canada with her skating partner, Nikolaj Sørensen, she is a six-time Grand Prix medallist, including gold at the 2022 NHK Trophy and a five-time Challenger medallist, including gold at the 2019 CS Nebelhorn Trophy and 2022 CS Finlandia Trophy. Alexander Majorov (figure Skater)
Alexander Alexandrovich Majorov (russian: Александр Александрович Майоров, born 19 July 1991) is a Swedish retired figure skater. He is the 2017 Winter Universiade bronze medalist, the 2011 World Junior bronze medalist, a five-time Nordic champion (2011–14 and 2016), and a four-time Swedish national champion (2012–14, 2017). His best finish at the European Championships is 6th (2013). He was 14th at the 2014 Winter Olympics. Personal life Majorov was born on 19 July 1991 in Saint Petersburg, Russia.
