A figure space or numeric space is a typographic unit equal to the size of a single numerical digit. Its size can fluctuate somewhat depending on which font is being used. This is the preferred space to use in numbers. It has the same width as a digit and keeps the number together for the purpose of line breaking. Standard In Unicode it is assigned . Typographic Unit
Typographic units are the units of measurement used in typography or typesetting. Traditional typometry units are different from familiar metric units because they were established in the early days of printing. Though most printing is digital now, the old terms and units have persisted. Even though these units are all very small, across a line of print they add up quickly. Confusions such as resetting text originally in type of one unit in type of another will result in words moving from one line to the next, resulting in all sorts of typesetting errors (viz. rivers, widows and orphans, disrupted tables, and misplaced captions). In word processing and digital typesetting, a non-breaking space, , also called NBSP, required space, hard space, or fixed space (though it is not of fixed width), is a space character that prevents an automatic line break at its position. In some formats, including HTML, it also prevents consecutive whitespace characters from collapsing into a single space. Non-breaking space characters with other widths also exist. Word Joiner
The word joiner (WJ) is a format character in Unicode used to indicate that word separation should not occur at a position, when using scripts such as Arabic that do not use explicit spacing. It is encoded since Unicode version 3.2 (released in 2002) as . The word joiner does not produce any space and prohibits a line break at its position. Thus, it is a nonbreaking space with zero width. The word joiner replaces the ''zero-width no-break space'' (''ZWNBSP'', U+FEFF), as a usage of the no-break space of zero width. Character U+FEFF is intended for use as a byte order mark (BOM) at the start of a file. However, if encountered elsewhere, it should, according to Unicode, be treated as a zero-width no-break space.
