Figure Skating At The 2017 Winter Universiade
Figure skating at the 2017 Winter Universiade was held on February 1–5 at the Almaty Arena in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Medals were awarded in men's singles, ladies' singles, and ice dancing. Regulations Skaters who were born between 1 January 1989 and 31 December 1999 are eligible to compete at the Winter Universiade if they are registered as proceeding towards a degree or diploma at a university or similar institute, or obtained their academic degree or diploma in the year preceding the event. Each nation may send a maximum of three entries per discipline. Medalists Withdrawn events On 17 January, it was announced the cancellation of pairs competition in the figure skating due to the low number of entrants. Only two pairs from Russia were registered in the event, which forced the cancellation of the same, according to the rules of FISU. Almaty Arena
Almaty Arena (formerly Almaty Ice Palace) is a multi-purpose indoor arena located in Almaty, Kazakhstan which was opened on 18 September 2016 and seats 12,000 spectators for ice hockey. Apart from hosting ice hockey matches, the arena is venue for boxing, figure skating, basketball, concerts, and other events. It is one of the venues to host the 2017 Winter Universiade. The arena is located in the north of punched Ryskulov Avenue, to the west from Momyshuly street in the Alatau District. Yuri Cheslavavich Hulitski ( be, Юрый Чэслававіч Гуліцкі; born 18 April 1996) is a retired Belarusian competitive ice dancer. With Anna Kublikova, he is the 2018 Open d'Andorra silver medalist and the 2019 Belarusian national champion. He has competed in the final segment at three ISU Championships. Career Hulitski began learning to skate in 2000. He competed at least five seasons with Eugenia Tkachenka. At the 2012 Winter Youth Olympics, the two placed 10th in the individual ice dancing event and won gold in the team event. Egor Yuryevich Bazin (russian: Егор Юрьевич Базин, born 13 September 1995) is a Russian ice dancer. With his former partner, Sofia Evdokimova, he is the 2017 Winter Universiade silver medalist, the 2018 Ice Star champion, and the 2019 Russian national bronze medalist.
