Fiery Fireman
''Fiery Firemen'' is a 1928 silent animated short co-directed by a young Friz Freleng and Rudolf Ising, produced by George Winkler, and stars Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. It is among the few Oswald shorts from the Winkler period known to exist. Plot Oswald is a fire fighter who is seen resting in bed inside the fire department. Also lying in bed beside him is his colleague, a horse. One day, a condo building goes ablaze, and calls for help from the scene are audible miles away. Oswald and his horse are at first reluctant to leave their bed, but still manage to rush toward the site on time. In their first rescue mission, Oswald scales a building to the floor where stranded mice are waiting. Oswald provides them a long rope which they use to slide down. Next, Oswald and his companion go to another building to rescue a hippo. Inside their targeted room, they find the hippo unconscious and try to carry her out the window. Friz Freleng
Isadore "Friz" Freleng (August 21, 1905May 26, 1995), credited as I. Freleng early in his career, was an American animator, cartoonist, director, producer, and composer known for his work at Warner Bros. Cartoons on the ''Looney Tunes'' and '' Merrie Melodies'' series of cartoons. In total he created more than 300 cartoons. He introduced and/or developed several of the studio's biggest stars, including Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig, Tweety, Sylvester, Yosemite Sam (to whom he was said to bear more than a passing resemblance), and Speedy Gonzales. The senior director at Warners' Termite Terrace studio, Freleng directed more cartoons than any other director in the studio (a total of 266), and is also the most honored of the Warner directors, having won five Academy Awards and three Emmy Awards. Rudolf Ising
Rudolf Carl Ising (August 7, 1903 – July 18, 1992) was an American animator best known for collaborating with Hugh Harman to establish the Warner Bros. and MGM Cartoon studios during the early years of the golden age of American animation. In 1940, Ising produced William Hanna and Joseph Barbera's first cartoon, '' Puss Gets the Boot'', a cartoon featuring characters later known as Tom and Jerry. Personal life Ising was born in Kansas City, Missouri on August 7, 1903. He was married twice, first to Maxine Jennings between 1936 until their divorce in 1940, and later to Cynthia Westlake from 1941 until his death , with whom he had a son, Rudolf Ising, Jr. Ising died of cancer in Newport Beach on 18 July 1992 and is buried at Pacific View Memorial Park in California.
