Fields (band)
Fields were an Anglo-Icelandic electronic/indie band formed in London in 2006. After playing their first live shows they signed a deal with Atlantic Records, which allowed them to release through their own Black Lab Records their 2007 debut album '' Everything Last Winter'', recorded with producer Michael Beinhorn at Sun Studios in Dublin. Vocalist Nick Peill instigated most of Fields' songs. Alongside Peill, the line-up was vocalist and keyboard player Thórunn Antonía, lead guitarist Jamie Putnam, drummer Henry Spencer, and bassist Matty Derham, who later joined Does It Offend You, Yeah?. Fields played on tour with Wolfmother and Bloc Party, and on their own tour in 2007. Although recording work commenced on a follow-up album to be entitled ''Hollow Mountain'', which was intended to include the songs "Sun In Your Eyes", "Constantly", "Are You Ready Yet?", "Worst Love" and "Call The Captain", the album remains unreleased. Caulfield Grammarians Football Club, is an Australian rules football club based in Caulfield East, Victoria. The club, composed of Caulfield Grammar School alumni is, along with Old Melburnians, the (equal) second oldest consecutively competing team in the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA) (the oldest being Collegians). The team entered the competition in 1920, and has competed continuously since that time (competition was suspended from 1940 to 1945 during World War II). In 2020, the club’s centenary year, all 6 teams will be playing in their respective A Grades. Their home ground is the Glenhuntly Oval, at the corner of Neerim Road and Booran Road. The Fields Medal is a prize awarded to two, three, or four mathematicians under 40 years of age at the International Congress of the International Mathematical Union (IMU), a meeting that takes place every four years. The name of the award honours the Canadian mathematician John Charles Fields. The Fields Institute for Research in Mathematical Sciences, commonly known simply as the Fields Institute, is an international centre for scientific research in mathematical sciences. It is an independent non-profit with strong ties to 20 Ontario universities, including the University of Toronto, where it occupies a purpose-built building on the St. George campus. Fields was established in 1992, and was briefly based at the University of Waterloo before relocating to Toronto in 1995. Fields Landing (formerly, South Bay, South Bay Station, and Adele) is a census-designated place in Humboldt County, California. It is located on Humboldt Bay south-southwest of downtown Eureka, at an elevation of 13 feet (4 m). The ZIP Code is 95537. The population was 276 at the 2010 census. History Before the arrival of European settlers, the area now known as Humboldt County was occupied by a number of indigenous peoples, including the Wiyot, Yurok, Hupa, Karuk, Chilula, Whilkut, and the southern Athabascans. Fields Landing is located within the original territory of the Wiyot tribe. The first recorded entrance into Humboldt Bay occurred in 1806 by members of a Russian-American company from Sitka. Fields (progressive Rock Band)
Fields was an English progressive rock band formed in 1971 by drummer Andrew McCulloch, keyboardist Graham Field, and bassist-vocalist Alan Barry. McCulloch had previously been a member of King Crimson, appearing on the band's third album ''Lizard''. Field founded Rare Bird in 1968 and departed in early 1971, and Barry was a former member of The Dowlands (aka The Dowland Brothers, 1962-1963) with the Giles brothers Peter and Michael who would eventually become members of King Crimson. Fields released one album, ''Fields'', in 1971, and one single from the album, "A Friend of Mine", in 1973. They did record a second album in 1972 with ex-Supertramp bassist-vocalist Frank Farrell replacing the departed Alan Barry, but the record was shelved by CBS and not initially released. Fields, Oregon
Fields is an unincorporated community in Harney County, Oregon, United States, located south of Burns. It is the center of commerce for local ranches and the largest community between Denio, Nevada, to the south, and Frenchglen, Oregon, to the north. The community has a single family-owned retail outlet and restaurant called Fields Station. The radius around that store has below 25 occupants. History In 1881, Charles Fields established a homestead where the community of Fields is located today. Fields built a stagecoach roadhouse to serve the stage route between Winnemucca, Nevada, and Burns. A one-room school was established at the site around 1900 with one teacher. Fields sold his business to John Smyth in 1911. The Fields post office was opened two years later. The stone roadhouse was eventually remodeled into a store and restaurant, and is still in use.
