Field Township is a township in St. Louis County, Minnesota, Saint Louis County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 391 at the 2010 census. U.S. Route 53#Minnesota, U.S. Highway 53 and State Highway 1 (Minnesota State Highway 1, MN 1) are two of the main routes in the township. Cook, Minnesota, Cook and Orr, Minnesota, Orr are both nearby. Field Township was named for a local journalist. Sturgeon is the common name for the 27 species of fish belonging to the family Acipenseridae. The earliest sturgeon fossils date to the Late Cretaceous, and are descended from other, earlier acipenseriform fish, which date back to the Early Jurassic period, some 174 to 201 million years ago. They are one of two living families of the Acipenseriformes alongside paddlefish (Polyodontidae).
