Field Telegraph Corps
Field Telegraph Corps ( sv, Fälttelegrafkåren), designation Ing 3, was a Swedish engineering unit within the Swedish Armed Forces which served in various forms between 1902 and 1937. The main part of the unit was located in the Stockholm Garrison in Stockholm, Uppland. History The Field Telegraph Corps was established in 1902 and was organized by the Fields Telegraph Company of the Svea Engineer Battalion, in connection with the battalion's reorganization into Svea Engineer Corps, together with a newly established Field Telegraph Company. The unit changed after a few years the designation to Ing 3. A detachment from the Field Telegraph Corps was during the years 1912-1916 deployed at Axevalla heath and Malmen and formed the backbone of the army air force. The detachment was reorganized in 1916 into the Field Telegraph Corps' 5th Company, the Air Company, which was deployed at Malmen from 1916 to 1926 when the Swedish Air Force was established. Kungsholmen (''King's Islet'') is a borough (''stadsdelsområde'') in central Stockholm, Sweden. It is named after the dominating district and island in the borough. Except Kungsholmen (proper) there are six districts in the borough: Fredhäll, Kristineberg, Lilla Essingen, Marieberg, Stadshagen and Stora Essingen. It is also equivalent to the parishes of Kungsholm, Sankt Göran and Essinge. Torsten Friis
Lieutenant General Torsten Friis (1 August 1882 – 21 April 1967) was a Swedish Air Force officer. Friis was initially a fortification officer and was commanding officer of the Field Telegraph Corps from 1928 to 1932 and chief of the Military Office of the Land Defence from 1932 to 1934. In 1934 he was commissioned to build the Swedish Air Force and was appointed Chief of the Air Force, a position he held until 1942 when he retired. Early life Friis was born on 1 August 1882 in Malmö, Sweden, the son of vice consul Ernst Friis and his wife Sophie (née Thomée) and brother of rear admiral Helge Friis (1883–1956). He passed ''studentexamen'' in 1900. Career Friis was commissioned as an officer 1902 and was given the rank of ''underlöjtnant'' the same year. Major General Karl Albert Byron Amundson (KABA) (29 November 1873 – 21 February 1938) was a Swedish Air Force officer, ballooner and military attaché. He was the first Swedish Chief of the Air Force (1926–31). Career Amundson was born on 29 November 1873 in Grythyttehed, Grythyttan, Sweden, the son of colonel Johan ''Albert'' Amundson (born 1840) and Alma Helena Albertina Godtknecht (born 1854). Marieberg is a district located on the island of Kungsholmen in Stockholm City Centre, Sweden. Marieberg is part of the Borough of Kungsholmen. It is located west of Fridhemsgatan/Riddarfjärden, south of Drottningholmsvägen and east of Essingeleden/Viktor Rydbergs gata. In the south Marieberg borders the Mariebergsfjärden. History Marieberg has its name after the Marieberg ''malmgård'' (suburban manor), which was erected in the 1640s on the shores of Lake Mälaren for the ''Riksråd'' Bengt Skytte. He named the farm after his daughter Maria, the wife of the Master of the Horse Gustav Adam Banér.
