Field Hockey At The 2015 Pan American Games – Men's Tournament
The men's field hockey tournament at the 2015 Pan American Games was held in Toronto, Canada at the Pan Am / Parapan Am Fields from July 14 to 25. For these Games, the men competed in an 8-team tournament. The teams were grouped into two pools of four teams each for a round-robin preliminary round. All teams will advance to an eight team single elimination bracket. Argentina were the defending champions from the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, defeating Canada, 3–1 in the final. The winner of this tournament, if not already qualified, qualified for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Qualification A total of eight men's teams qualified to compete at the games. The top two teams at the South American and Central American and Caribbean Games qualified for the tournament. The host nation (Canada) automatically qualified as well. Lucas Martín Vila (born 23 August 1986) is an Argentine field hockey player who plays for Spanish club Benalmádena as a forward. He made his debut for the national squad in 2005, after having played the Junior World Cup in Rotterdam, Netherlands. He played a total of 262 times for the Argentina national team until 2021. Matías Enrique Paredes (born 1 February 1982) is an Argentine field hockey player who plays as a midfielder or forward for Ducilo and the Argentine national team. Club career Paredes started his club career with Ducilo at age four in his native Argentina, before moving to Germany to play with UHC Hamburg in 2002. Juan Ignacio Gilardi (born 14 November 1981) is an Argentine retired field hockey player who played as a defender for the Argentine national team. Juan Manuel Vivaldi (born 17 July 1979) is an Argentine field hockey goalkeeper who plays club hockey in his native country for Banco Provincia. He was a member of the men's national team from 2001 to 2021 and was the stand-in for first choice goalie Pablo Moreira at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, where the South Americans finished in 11th position.
