Fidelis Thaliath
Fidelis Thaliath (1929 – 2008), popularly known as "Doctoramma" ("Mother Doctor"), was an Indian religious sister, gynecologist and social reformer who worked among the destitute people in Delhi. She was declared Servant of God in 2021. Early years Fidelis Thaliath was born as Kochuthresia in 1929 in Puthanpally, a village in the then Cochin State, now part of the south Indian state of Kerala to Joseph Thaliath and Mariamkkutty. She joined the religious congregation, Sisters of the Destitute in 1952 and took the perpetual vow of chastity in 1956. In 1964, she moved to Chicago where she joined the Loyola University to obtain a medical degree in Gynecology. Subsequently, she returned to India to start her career as a medical professional in Holy Angels' Nursing Home in Delhi but returned to Chicago in 1973 to complete her master's degree in 1977. Eliswa Vakayil
Eliswa Vakayil (Eliswa of the Blessed Virgin Mary in religion) is the foundress of the first indigenous Carmelite congregation for women in India. She was the first religious sister from Kerala, the southern most state of India; she established the first convent school, boarding house and orphanage for girls in Kerala. Early life She was born as the first of eight children of Thomman and Thanda, in the noble family of Vyppissery in the Cruz Milagres parish of Ochanthuruth. From her childhood itself Eliswa showed a keen interest in prayer and sacrifices. Her devotion to Jesus in the Eucharist and the Blessed Virgin Mary was astounding. Little Eliswa was exceptionally compassionate to the poor and the under privileged. According to her parents' wishes, Eliswa married Vatharu Vakayil in 1847. Antony Thachuparambil (8 December 1894 – 9 June 1963), popularly known as ''the Missionary of Chelakkara'' was an Indian Syro-Malabar Catholic priest and social reformer who worked in Chelakkara, Thrissur District, Kerala, India. A candidate for sainthood, he was declared a Servant of God by the Holy See in 2009. Early years Antony Thachuparambil was born on 8 December 1894 in Kottat, a suburban village of Chalakudy in Kerala to Poulose and Rosa. He had his early schooling in Chalakudy Government High School and college education in St. Joseph's College, Tiruchirappalli. He continued his pastoral education at Mary Matha Major Seminary, Thrissur and was ordained on 22 Dec 1924.
